About Did You Know? Pickle Facts & Tips
When you look at our jars, you see a process that hasn't changed in over a century. We use rock salt (Sendha Namak) instead of processed table salt, and we hand-crush our spices because the heat from a machine grinder destroys the essential oils in ingredients like mustard and fenugreek. This is the reason our pickles are packed with natural probiotics that aid digestion, rather than just empty sodium.
We often get asked about the history of these ingredients. Garlic, for instance, has been used as a medicinal staple since ancient Egypt, and our Green Chilli pickle is not just about the heat. It contains capsaicin, which is known to be a metabolism booster. We believe that understanding what goes into your food makes the experience of eating it even better.
Why Handcrafted Matters
Most commercial pickles rely on artificial preservatives to ensure a two-year shelf life. We do the opposite. By keeping our batches small and sun-drying our produce, we lock in the nutritional value naturally. You might notice slight variations in flavor or texture between batches—that is simply the signature of seasonal produce and real, hand-cut vegetables.
How to Pair Your Pickles
Don't limit yourself to Dal-Chawal, although it is a classic for a reason. We have seen our customers pair our tangy Lemon Pickle with grilled cheese sandwiches, using it to cut through the richness of the cheese. Our Mixed Vegetable pickle works as a fantastic probiotic side to a heavy Thali, helping balance your palate. Whether you are using our Raw Mango pickle to stimulate your appetite before a meal or adding a spicy kick to your evening Khichdi, you are adding natural enzymes to your plate.
Our Quality Promise
Every jar is a labor of love. From the moment we pick the chillies to the moment we tie the jute twine on the lid, we ensure no machine touches the process. It is about keeping the tradition alive, one jar at a time.
