The Grace of Ghoomar
Ghoomar is a story told through movement, a spiritual journey connecting us to the soul of Rajasthan. Experience this ancient art form with authentic technique and deep-rooted emotion.
A Ghoomar performance for a community event. Even on a simple stage, the dance carries its own grace and power, connecting with every person in the audience.
This is my Ghoomar performance from "Padharo Mhare Des". It is more than a dance; it is a spiritual process of storytelling through clockwise and anti-clockwise turns, with every expression rooted in love and tradition.
A full-body shot of my Ghoomar performance, showing the grace and flow of the traditional poshak as I twirl under the blue stage lights.
About this collection
Ghoomar is often misunderstood as just twirling. In reality, it is about the gaze. I teach you how to keep your eyes downward, maintaining that signature spiritual connection while your hands and feet tell the story. It is a subtle, grounded art, and my sessions focus on getting that flow right rather than just learning the choreography.
When I perform Ghoomar, I am not just dancing. I am sharing a 'nazrana' (gift) of my culture. Whether it is for a wedding or a cultural event, the focus is always on the 'vishvaas' (belief) behind every turn.
In my workshops, we go beyond the steps. We focus on the technical side, like mastering the gaze and handling the heavy 'poshak' (costume). It is not about speed, it is about the grace of the 'ghoom' (turn). If you join my workshop, we cover everything from mudras to footwork synchronization, ensuring you feel the music rather than just counting the beats.
My Ghoomar sessions are open to everyone, from complete beginners to those looking to refine their form. We create a space where you can let go of your inhibitions and simply exist in the music. If you are looking to bring this energy to your event, I bring that same dedication to every performance, ensuring the spirit of Rajasthan is felt by everyone in the room.
Pooja Rajpurohit
I have spent my life chasing the rhythms of my Rajasthani roots. For me, Ghoomar is not just a performance, it is how I ground myself and share the stories of my ancestors. If you want to learn this with authenticity or bring a piece of Rajasthan to your event, let’s talk.
