About this collection
In these workshops, we move beyond basic steps to master the specific nuances of Rajasthani folk. We dedicate time to the art of handling the Odhni during spins and mastering the spiritual gaze, ensuring you feel confident in your technique before we layer in the music.
My Ghoomar workshops are not just about learning choreography. They are a space to connect with the roots of Rajasthan. Whether you are a total beginner or have danced before, I focus on helping you find your own rhythm within the traditional framework.
What we cover
- Technical Foundation: We start with the basics of Ghoomar footwork and the specific posture that defines this regal style.
- Odhni Handling: A large part of the session is dedicated to managing the Odhni (dupatta) during spins, teaching you how to make the fabric flow naturally with your movement.
- Spiritual Gaze: We practice the intentional, graceful eye contact that brings the storytelling element of the dance to life.
- Inclusive Environment: These sessions are held in premium studios in Indiranagar like Dside or Puhor, keeping the group size manageable so I can provide feedback to everyone.
This is a 120-minute intensive cultural training session. We keep the atmosphere supportive and focus on the 'vishvaas' (belief) in oneself. By the end of the session, we record a group video so you can take home the memory of the routine you have mastered.
Pooja Rajpurohit
I am Pooja, and for me, dance is a conversation between my roots in Rajasthan and the present moment. I started these workshops to share the belief I found in our folk traditions, helping you find your own rhythm and grace through Ghoomar.
