About Design Details & Finishing
A good outfit is all about how it is put together. Whether it is a zig-zag neckline on a silk blouse or precise hand-beadwork on a party gown, the finish defines the look. I use soft cotton linings, double-reinforced armholes, and canvas fusing because these are the small things that prevent wear and tear.
Many people focus on the fabric, but the construction is what makes an outfit wearable for years. When I work on a blouse or dress, I check everything to ensure quality.
- Stitching and Strength: I use double stitching at stress points like armholes and waists so the garment holds its shape.
- Interior Comfort: Every gown and blouse gets soft lining—either butter crepe or breathable cotton—so the fabric feels comfortable against your skin.
- Structuring: For lehengas and gowns, I use canvas fusing and heavy-duty hooks. This ensures the waist does not fold and the zip stays concealed.
- Hand Work: Beadwork and embroidery are placed by hand. I take the time to align prints vertically and use saree borders for a seamless look.
- Finishing touches: I make custom latkans (tassels) from the leftover saree scraps, so nothing goes to waste.
