Let’s be real—your pet doesn't know it's their birthday, and that's the best part. I don’t believe in forcing poses or stiff studio lighting. For your pet’s cake smash, I come prepared with pet-safe cake suggestions, styling tips, and a whole lot of patience. My goal is to capture the actual tail wags, frosting-smeared noses, and 'cake-mashed' kisses, rather than just getting a static photo for your feed.
How I Approach Birthday Shoots
When we plan a birthday bash or a cake smash, we aren't chasing a magazine cover. We are chasing your pet's genuine personality. If your dog is a 'drama queen' who wants to dive headfirst into the cake, or a shy soul who prefers a gentle sniff before digging in, that is exactly the moment I want to freeze.
The Process:
- The Setup: Whether we do this in your living room or at a favorite local park, I handle the styling. We bring in props like teepees, bunting, and safe, pet-friendly cakes that make the scene festive but comfortable.
- The Pace: These sessions are entirely pet-led. We take as many breaks as needed for treats, belly rubs, or just to let them explore the space.
- The Interaction: If you have children or a partner who wants to join, I love including the whole family. Seeing a child and a dog share a moment over a birthday cake is one of my favorite things to photograph because it captures a bond that really lasts a lifetime.
