My Journey Creating Paper-Cut Portraits
Welcome to my tiny paper world. Since 2020, I have been turning your favorite photos into hand-cut silhouette art, one knife stroke at a time.
A quick video showing "the artist" (me!) and "the art." I pour my heart into every piece I create, and I hope that love shows in the final product.
A snapshot from the Madan Mohan tribute concert, where I was introduced on stage. Being recognized for my art in front of such a large audience was an unforgettable moment.
Me, proudly holding the framed portrait of Madan Mohan. Moments like these, when a project is complete and ready to be gifted, are my absolute favorite.
This photo is so special to me. It's my dad presenting my work to Amitabh Bachchan. My family's support is a huge part of my artistic journey.
About About Me & My Art
Every portrait I make starts with a blank sheet and a sharp blade, and it is honestly so meditative to watch a face appear from just paper. Because I do every cut by hand, your piece will have tiny, organic variations that no machine can mimic, making it truly yours.
My process is simple but slow. I take your photo, trace the lines, and then spend hours with my craft knife cutting out every detail. I use 180 to 200 GSM acid-free paper because it holds the lines without tearing and keeps your art looking sharp for years.
When you get your portrait, it comes in a floating frame. That double-glass effect is not just for looks. It allows light to pass through the cuts and throw soft shadows on your wall. That is where the magic happens. You might be wondering why I choose paper over paint or digital prints. It is because paper has a texture and a weight that feels real.
When I made a portrait for Amitabh Bachchan, I wanted to capture more than just his likeness. I wanted to capture the emotion in his expression. The same goes for my recent work for the Madan Mohan family. Each cut is a choice. I decide where the light hits the face and where the shadow rests.
If you are looking for a gift, think about what makes the person smile. I can add flowers, guitars, or even specific patterns to the frame. Whether it is a single-subject piece or a complex couple portrait, I want it to be something you are proud to display. I am always open to new ideas, so if you have a wild concept, let me know. We can figure it out together.
