Featured Architectural and Landscape Design
we view landscape as an extension of architecture, creating seamless transitions where indoor spaces flow into nature.
A residence where the structure is defined by its landscape. We designed flowing green roofs and integrated water bodies that follow the natural contours of the building, creating a home that is both part of nature and a comfortable living space.
This conceptual design shows our exploration of cantilevered structures that support extensive green roofs and a suspended swimming pool. The goal is to create dramatic, functional outdoor living areas that appear to float within the landscape.
For the MCA Pune competition, we reimagined a multi-level parking facility as a terraced garden. This approach transforms utilitarian infrastructure into a public green space, integrating nature into a large-scale commercial project.
In the Neeti Residence, the swimming pool becomes a central feature of the guest level, blurring the line between inside and out. The design uses a long, linear pool flanked by a stone wall and indoor planters to create a serene, private oasis.
This image shows our design process, moving from an initial conceptual sketch to a realistic 3D render for a residence in Bengaluru. This iterative journey allows us to refine the building's form and its relationship with the surrounding space.
The dining and pooja space in the Sandeep & Neelam residence opens directly onto an indoor grass courtyard, illuminated by a large skylight. This design brings natural light and greenery into the heart of the home.
The exterior of the Neethi Residence features a dynamic composition of interlocking white masses and large glass voids. The landscape is woven into the structure through an indoor pool and planters visible from the street.
About this collection
we document the entire evolution of a project, from the initial hand sketch to the final technical blueprint. this transparent process allows you to understand the structural logic behind your space before we even break ground, ensuring that design decisions are grounded in the specific light, slope, and functional requirements of your site.
our approach is rooted in the concept of 'terraced and peeled' architecture. we do not treat the building and the landscape as separate entities. instead, we analyze the natural topography and sun path to determine where the building should sit and how it should open up to the environment.
the design journey
every project begins with a pencil sketch. we believe in showing our clients the full evolution of an idea, from those initial lines to massing models and final 3d renders. this allows us to refine the relationship between the built form and green spaces, such as integrating rooftop gardens, cantilevered decks, or internal courtyards, well before construction starts.
technical depth
landscaping at this level requires rigorous technical detailing. for our rooftop garden designs, we manage the entire structural integration:
- waterproofing: multi-layer systems that protect the structure while supporting lush greenery.
- structural safety: coordination with engineers to validate soil and water loads, especially for elevated pools and trees.
- drainage: grid layouts and precise slope specifications to prevent water stagnation.
master planning
for larger sites, we focus on macro-level strategy. this includes creating vehicular and pedestrian circulation plans, rainwater harvesting catchments, and orienting landscape elements to frame views. whether it is a residential courtyard or a commercial clubhouse, our goal is to create a cohesive environment where the landscape feels inevitable, as if it grew out of the architecture itself.
Ochre Architects
we start with a simple sketch, often digging out old blueprints older than some of us here. for us, architecture isn't just walls and roofs, it's a journey from a line on paper to a home with a story. we handle everything from site planning to the smallest detail of a stone pathway.
