Architectural Design Concepts and Creative Inspirations
Every space we build starts as a conversation. This collection gathers the sketches, conceptual renders, and travel influences that fuel our design process at Office of Cognitive Design, from understanding light in heritage bungalows to shaping modern workplace flow.
The famous yellow corridor at Casa Gilardi by Luis Barragán. We travel to experience architecture that moves us, and Barragán's masterful use of color, light, and emotion is a constant source of inspiration.
A concept render for a new business center in Bengaluru. The design features sweeping curves, a grand staircase, and a large-scale mural to create a dynamic and inspiring workspace.
A design concept for a new patisserie in Goa. We aimed to celebrate the building's Art Deco history while creating a fresh, modern identity, using curved forms and a palette of green and brass.
The interior of Haute, a wine bar we designed in Indiranagar, Bengaluru. The space features plush booth seating, a prominent wine display, and bold artwork to create a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere.
A moment of indulgence at Lavonne Cafe. The mood of a space is critical, and here we designed an interior that feels like a classic French patisserie, perfect for enjoying coffee and dessert.
A tour of a 120-year-old heritage bungalow in Mysuru, beautifully restored and repurposed as an artisan chocolate factory. We love seeing old buildings find new life and continue their story.
A look at our recently completed collaboration with Locul Hostels in Indiranagar. The design provides a colorful, comfortable, and inexpensive base for travelers to experience Bengaluru.
About this collection
When we start a new project, we don't look for pre-set styles. We look for the narrative. Before we touch any design software, we hand-sketch our ideas to capture the soul of the space. Whether we are reinterpreting a heritage bungalow in Mysuru or drafting a high-traffic workspace in Bengaluru, these early concepts are where we solve the fundamental problems: how light enters, how people move, and where your memories will live.
Beyond The Visuals
Conceptual design is the most critical phase of our work. It is where we strip away the noise and focus on what the space needs to do, not just what it needs to look like. When we present a render, we are not just showing you colors or textures. We are showing you a psychological simulation of your future environment.
The Influence of Travel and Heritage
You will notice references to figures like Luis Barragán in our work. We believe that to create something new, you must understand what moved people in the past. This involves studying how light dances on a lime-plastered wall or how traditional courtyards facilitate natural ventilation. We take these lessons and apply them to modern commercial and residential projects, ensuring that even a new construction feels rooted and timeless.
From Sketch to Structure
The leap from a concept to a physical space is handled through our design-and-build process. We don't hand over a set of drawings and walk away. We stay through the site execution, managing the MEP coordination, the material procurement, and the inevitable on-site improvisation. By handling both the architecture and the construction, we ensure that the concept you fell in love with on paper is exactly what you walk into upon completion.
Office of Cognitive Design
We are Kshitija and Raja, partners in life and design. Architecture is how we make sense of the world, so design conversations often bleed into our dinner plans. We don't believe in templates; we sketch every idea from scratch to make sure the space fits your life, not the other way around.
