Mentorship and Guidance for Young Lawyers
I see my younger colleagues as equals. Here is how I share what I have learned over thirty years to build a stronger, more connected Bar.
The beauty of this profession is that you have no boss. I tell my younger associates that the only difference between us is that I have learned the art of masking my ignorance with confidence, an art they too will master.
With a young colleague. It is my privilege to guide and support the bright minds who are the future of the Delhi High Court bar.
Posing with two promising advocates. Seeing their passion and dedication reaffirms my faith in the next generation of legal professionals.
About Mentoring the Next Generation
Mentorship is not about hierarchy. It is about recognizing that every advocate, regardless of years at the Bar, brings value to a case. When I mentor, I do not dictate. I show you how to read the room, how to dissect a charge-sheet, and most importantly, how to hold your ground when the pressure is high. If you are serious about building a career grounded in ethics rather than shortcuts, reach out.
I faced the same struggle as a first-generation lawyer with no connections. I know that the hardest part is not the law itself, but the lack of guidance when you need it most. In my chambers, we don't do 'junior-senior' drama. If you walk in, you are an associate and a colleague.
My approach to mentorship is simple: we focus on the practical realities of the courtroom. We look at evidence, analyze witness contradictions, and handle statutory interpretation. I teach you how to mask your initial ignorance with the confidence that comes from preparation. I want you to learn how to navigate the Delhi High Court not by copying me, but by finding your own voice.
Whether you are a law student looking to understand how criminal defense works in practice or a young lawyer trying to find your footing in a tough case, you are welcome here. We operate on the belief that sharing knowledge makes us all stronger. My door is open for discussions on jurisprudence, trial strategy, and the daily grind of a legal practice. Let's work on becoming better advocates together.
