About NrityaYogsutra: Healing Through Movement
We host these sessions every Saturday in our Darbari studio in Khar West, providing a space away from the daily grind. Unlike standard fitness classes, Dr. Sangeeta Pethkar guides you through a mix of Hastamudra therapy, breathwork, and chakra meditation, ensuring you aren't just exercising, but actively clearing mental blocks. You do not need any prior dance experience to join; the focus here is entirely on how the movement feels for you.
Finding Stillness in Motion
NrityaYogsutra is not a performance-based dance class. It is a dedicated space for mental and physical release. Many of our students arrive carrying the stress of the week, and through our guided flow, they shift from a state of 'doing' to a state of 'being.'
What happens in a session?
- Hastamudra Therapy: We use specific hand gestures rooted in Indian classical tradition to channel energy and improve focus.
- Mindful Rhythmic Flow: We combine gentle dance movements with yoga asanas. There is no right or wrong step, just the rhythm that serves your body.
- Chakra Alignment: Each session integrates meditative breathing to help with grounding and mental clarity.
Who is this for?
This practice is open to anyone aged 16 and above, regardless of your fitness level or dance background. Whether you are looking to recover from a hectic work schedule or simply want to explore movement as a form of expression, our Khar West studio offers a judgment-free environment. We focus on the connection between Taal (rhythm) and Abhinaya (expression) to help you emerge feeling physically lighter and mentally refreshed.
