Movement as Meditation
Yoga is not just exercise; it is an inward journey. Explore how we blend movement and stillness to find clarity and connection.
Movement is the medicine for the body, and stillness is the medicine for the mind. We practice a blend of both on the beach in Goa.
An energetic flow to nourish the pranamaya kosha, the energetic layer of our existence. We use the body to lift energy and raise consciousness.
Blending philosophy with practice. This class was themed around 'Neti Neti' (not this, not that), a practice of inquiry to discover our true self beyond labels.
A look inside our Yin Yoga class. Participants enjoy a hip-opening flow, focusing on letting go of what is not needed and accepting the self.
A student in Pigeon Pose (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana), a deep hip-opener common in Yin Yoga. This practice helps release stored tension and emotion.
Participants in a Yin Yoga TTC in Cologne, Germany, using props like bolsters and blocks to support the body in long-held, restorative poses.
Hampi vibes. We practice Virabhadrasana II (Warrior II) amidst the ancient, powerful ruins of Hampi, drawing strength from the history around us.
"Neurons that fire together, wire together." Practicing Sun Salutations as a group helps build new neural pathways and activates mirror neurons for compassion.
Finding our flow together. Practicing as a community amplifies the energy and provides motivation and a deep sense of belonging.
Understanding the psycho-physiological benefits of standing asanas. They ground our energy, improve hip mobility, and teach us to stand firm in our beliefs.
About Movement as Meditation
Many classes focus on achieving the perfect pose, but we emphasize the balance between energetic Yang flows and restorative Yin. This approach ensures your body does not just work hard, but learns to release stored tension and reset the nervous system, making it suitable for all levels of practitioners.
At Sayujya Yoga, we view movement as a tool for introspection, not an end in itself. When we practice Yang-style flows, we focus on building heat and vitality, but we always anchor this in the awareness of breath and energy. Transitioning to Yin-style sessions, we hold poses longer to target deep connective tissues, allowing the mind to quiet down and settle.
This practice is not about flexibility; it is about accessibility. Whether you are practicing amidst the ruins of Hampi or by the sea in Goa, our sessions are designed for every body type. We integrate philosophy into every movement, drawing from ancient texts to help you understand your patterns off the mat. If you have felt that your practice is missing a deeper connection, our retreats offer the space to bridge that gap. We focus on 'Sthira Sukham Asanam'—finding steadiness and comfort—rather than performing for an audience. We invite you to join our tribe, explore these flows, and discover what your body truly needs to feel at peace.
