We believe a lifelong love for tennis starts with fun, not just drills. Our junior program helps children pick up the game naturally, building confidence and coordination on our safe, kid-friendly clay courts.

This video shows our beginner program in action. With mini nets and fun drills, we create a welcoming environment for kids to learn the fundamentals and develop a passion for the game.

A fun game to end a training session for our little ones. We mix serious skill-building with moments of play to keep our young students excited and motivated.

About this collection

We don't just hand a kid a racquet and hope for the best. Our methodology uses ITF-standard progressive equipment—think red dot balls and smaller nets—which makes the court feel proportional to their size. This helps them learn correct swing mechanics and enjoy actual rallies from day one, rather than struggling with heavy, adult-sized equipment that can discourage young players.

Tennis shouldn't feel like a chore, especially when you are five or six. At Murugan Academy of Tennis, our approach for young beginners is built around engagement. We know that if a child enjoys the process, the discipline and skill-building will follow naturally.

Why Start on Clay?

We primarily use clay courts for our junior programs because they are kinder on the joints compared to hard courts. Kids are still growing, and the lower-impact surface of our Seegehalli facility helps prevent the common fatigue or stress injuries that can occur with high-intensity training on concrete.

Our Training Method

We follow ITF-recommended standards for junior development:

  • Progressive Equipment: We use red, orange, and green dot balls. These move slower through the air, giving children more time to set up their shots and build the muscle memory needed for proper form.
  • Small Group Focus: With a coach-to-student ratio of 1:8 to 1:10, your child gets enough attention to correct their grip or stance without feeling like they are under a microscope.
  • Movement & Fitness: Every session includes 30 minutes of functional fitness using agility ladders and sprints. It’s disguised as play, but it builds the balance and hand-eye coordination that is essential for tennis.

The 'No-Pressure' Environment

We host regular Red Ball tournaments specifically for this age group. These aren't about winning trophies at all costs; they are about giving kids a low-pressure setting to experience what a real match feels like. It builds confidence and teaches them how to handle wins and losses with grace—skills that stay with them long after they leave the court.

I am Murugan, and I started this academy because I wanted to create the kind of place where I’d want my own kids to learn. My brother Raju and I are out on the courts with our students every day, keeping sessions fun while teaching the fundamentals that make a real difference.
