Building a Warrior's Body: Traditional Muay Thai Conditioning
Forget mirror muscles. Here, we build functional combat strength using traditional Mugdars and specialized bodyweight drills. This is training for the long haul.
This is a traditional strength training exercise using a heavy log. It builds explosive power in the core, back, and shoulders, which translates directly to more powerful strikes and clinching.
Before any intense workout, we prepare the body. This video shows the proper warm-up and stretching routine we use to prevent injuries and get the muscles ready for pushup variations.
This is the first variation of our pushup routine for building punch power. I demonstrate the basic form with different hand placements to target the chest, shoulders, and triceps from multiple angles.
In this second variation, we focus on knuckle pushups. This technique strengthens the knuckles and wrists, conditioning them for impact and ensuring a solid structure when you punch.
The third and fourth variations are fingertip pushups and archer pushups. Fingertip pushups build hand and finger strength, while archer pushups develop unilateral strength and control in the arms and chest.
This fifth pushup variation targets the lat muscles. By changing my hand positions, I engage the large muscles of the back, which are crucial for generating power in punches and pulls.
The final pushup variation shown here is the 'pan leaf' shape pushup. This advanced move builds exceptional strength in the triceps and biceps, adding to the explosive power of your strikes.
About Building a Warrior's Body
You won't find treadmill cardio here. My conditioning focuses on the 'Art of Eight Limbs'—using Mugdars (Indian clubs) for shoulder stability and specific pushup variations to harden your knuckles and wrists. This is built for those who want real, usable combat strength, not just aesthetics. Are you ready for the grind?
Why Real Strength Matters in Muay Boran
In my academies in Sadiq Nagar and Siri Fort, we don't lift weights just to look good in the mirror. Muay Boran demands a different kind of strength—resilience. When you are in the ring or facing a real-world threat, your body needs to withstand impact.
The Conditioning Pillars
- Mugdars (Indian Clubs): These aren't just props; they are essential for developing shoulder stability and explosive core rotational power. We use them to build the endurance needed for clinch work.
- Hardened Structural Integrity: My pushup variations aren't random. We train on knuckle pushups to condition your wrists and knuckles, ensuring they don't break upon impact. We practice archer and fingertip pushups to build the grip and forearm strength needed for strikes.
- Bodyweight Mastery: We use the 'Pan Leaf' pushup shape to build tricep and bicep density without needing heavy machinery.
Not a Gym, an Academy
This is about the long haul. You don't 'download' this knowledge; you earn it through sweat and repetition. We combine these drills with the Wai Kru and breathing techniques to ensure your mind stays as sharp as your strikes. Whether you are prepping for a professional fight or just wanting to understand your body's true potential, my training demands 100% commitment. No shortcuts, just steady progress. If you are serious, come train.
