Authentic Muay Boran and Battlefield Combat
Mastering the ancient martial art of the battlefield through traditional techniques, discipline, and practical self-defense logic.
This acrobatic takedown is a classic example of a Muay Boran technique designed for a real-life encounter. It uses the opponent's momentum against them, showing how this art is about leverage and timing, not just brute force.
A demonstration of a fundamental Muay Boran takedown. I show my students how to use a leg sweep to unbalance an opponent after blocking their attack, a practical skill for self-defense.
This is the 'Hap Khum Ayutthaya' technique. I am showing how to evade an attack and counter with a powerful throw. Notice how the movement is fluid and uses the entire body to control and defeat the opponent.
Here I demonstrate the 'Hak Nuang Aiyara' technique from the Mae-Mai Muay Boran system. This move is designed to break an opponent's stance and create an opening for a finishing strike.
This is a demonstration of a deadly technique from the legendary fighter Nai Khanom Tom. The move involves a powerful jump kick to the opponent's collarbone or neck, a testament to the brutal effectiveness of ancient Muay Boran.
Another look at a devastating finishing move attributed to Nai Khanom Tom. After knocking the opponent down, the fighter follows up with a decisive stomp, a technique used in battlefield combat.
This is a dynamic Muay Boran technique where one fighter uses his partner's body as a launchpad to deliver a powerful knee strike. This showcases the acrobatic and highly effective nature of the ancient art.
A powerful demonstration of a Muay Boran aerial attack. This technique, often linked to Hanuman, involves using another fighter for elevation to deliver a devastating strike from above.
I am demonstrating the 'Pansungnog' technique, a low sweeping kick aimed at the opponent's supporting leg. This move is designed to break their balance and bring them to the ground, where they are vulnerable.
A filmstrip showcasing various Muay Boran techniques in action. From acrobatic takedowns to powerful strikes, this is a reminder of the art's depth and effectiveness.
About The Art of the Battlefield (Muay Boran)
Muay Boran is the father of Muay Thai, designed for battlefield survival rather than ring points. I teach the full system, including lethal strikes like Hanuman Thayan, where you learn to use an opponent's momentum against them. This is not YouTube training, but the real, raw tradition passed down from masters.
Most people confuse Muay Thai with the ancient art of Muay Boran. While Muay Thai is a sport with gloves and referee rules, Muay Boran is a complete system for self-defense. At my academy in Delhi, we do not just focus on fitness. You will learn the Art of Nine Limbs, including strikes and joint locks that are excluded from modern competitions. We train on green puzzle mats and use traditional equipment like Mudgars for conditioning, just as I did in Thailand.
Whether you are coming for self-defense or to master the Mae-Mai (Major) and Luk-Mai (Minor) techniques, expect a rigorous environment. I personally correct every stance and movement to ensure you understand the logic behind the strike. This path is not for those looking for a quick workout, but for those who want to master the discipline of a true fighter. Expect honest feedback and hard work every time you walk onto the mats.
