About On-Location Stories
Shooting on location requires managing variables like shifting light and public access. I keep my setup lean to ensure mobility, allowing for rapid movement between spots. Whether we are at a brutalist structure in London or a rugged landscape in India, the environment dictates the framing so the images feel anchored in reality.
When we move outside the studio, the location becomes an active character in the story. My process for on-location editorials begins with scouting to ensure the setting matches the collection's tone, whether it is high-fashion, streetwear, or conceptual pieces. For the 'Nazaar' series, we utilized a raw, natural landscape to ground the modern, artistic styling. This approach brings a sense of authenticity that is difficult to replicate in a controlled environment.
I work with a small, specialized team—a stylist, an HMUA, and myself—to maintain agility. For travel shoots, we hold a virtual pre-production meeting to align on the mood board and lighting requirements before arriving. I use both professional strobe kits and natural light manipulation depending on the sun and surrounding architecture.
