About Contemporary Ethnic Wear
When I shoot traditional wear, I prioritize the interplay of fabric and light. Whether it is heavy zardosi or sheer organza, my lighting setups aim to preserve the richness of the embroidery while keeping the overall aesthetic clean and modern. We often use tethered shooting during these sessions so you can check the garment drape and fall on a monitor in real time, ensuring every detail is captured perfectly before we move to the next look.
My approach to ethnic wear photography is defined by a balance between the garment's cultural heritage and a contemporary, high-fashion visual language. I work with designers to ensure the images serve both as an artistic statement and as functional assets for catalogues and e-commerce platforms.
My Process
Every shoot begins with a consultation to define the collection’s theme. I create a mood board to align on lighting, styling, and poses. This ensures that when we step on set, the direction is clear. For ethnic wear specifically, I focus on:
- Lighting Control: I utilize professional strobe kits to bring out the depth in textiles and embroidery without washing out the colors.
- Tethered Shooting: Viewing shots on a large monitor during the shoot allows us to monitor the fabric fall and composition instantly.
- Composition: I avoid clutter, opting for backgrounds and environments that frame the garment without distracting from it.
Technical Deliverables
Clients receive a range of high-resolution files suitable for web, print, and social media. This includes color grading and light skin cleaning while preserving natural textures. My goal is to provide a set of images that accurately represents your design intent while maintaining the visual standards of high-end fashion editorials. Whether you are a new label or an established house, I am equipped to handle the production from start to finish.
