A surreal, composite image for the brand Melova. The model is juxtaposed with a giant flower, creating a playful and artistic fashion photograph.

An inverted portrait for Melova, playing with gravity and perspective. This unconventional composition creates a striking and memorable lookbook image.

About Studio Portraits & Lookbooks

Before we start the shoot, we dedicate a one-hour virtual consultation to finalize the mood board. This planning phase ensures that every element, from lighting ratios to styling choices, is aligned with your brand aesthetic before we step into the studio. It removes guesswork on the day of the shoot and allows us to focus entirely on the execution.

The Studio Approach

Photography in a controlled environment is about precision. My process relies on deliberate lighting, professional collaboration, and a clear vision for the final image. Whether shooting a high-fashion lookbook or an editorial portrait, the studio becomes a space to manipulate form and texture until the image matches the initial concept.

Workflow and Collaboration

Nothing is done in isolation. I work directly with stylists, makeup artists, and art directors to build the visuals from the ground up.

  • Pre-Production: We start with a mood board to define the lighting style and poses. This ensures we are hitting the right notes for your collection or personal brand.
  • Tethered Shooting: During sessions, I use tethered shooting so you can view images on a monitor in real-time. This provides immediate feedback on garment fall, angles, and expression, allowing us to make adjustments on the fly.
  • Lighting: I utilize professional strobe kits and modifiers to create the specific atmosphere required, whether that means dramatic, high-contrast shadows or soft, diffused light.

What to Expect

For lookbook and catalogue shoots, the focus is on a balance between artistic flair and commercial clarity. I typically cover 10 to 15 looks in an eight-hour day. This format provides enough time to capture the necessary detail shots—such as fabric texture, jewelry, or accessory placement—while maintaining a productive pace.

Following the shoot, you receive a contact sheet to select the final images. The post-production process then includes editorial-grade retouching, involving color grading, skin texture enhancement, and distraction removal to ensure the final assets are ready for your website or campaign.
