Therapeutic Riding Sessions for Special Needs
Gentle, guided interaction designed to build confidence, posture, and joy through meaningful connections with our intuitive, specially trained therapy horses.
Watch as Tanav, a child with special needs, confidently mounts his horse with assistance. His mother shares how our weekly sessions have improved his posture, body awareness, and overall happiness.
Safety and support are my top priorities. Here, a young rider is carefully led by one of my trained staff, ensuring a secure and positive experience as he enjoys his time on the trail.
The process begins with care and attention to detail. Here, I help a young rider get her helmet fitted correctly, while others learn to interact gently with the horses, creating a foundation of safety and trust.
About Therapeutic Riding for Special Needs
We prioritize safety with a 1:3 support ratio, involving a Lead Instructor, a dedicated Horse Handler, and Side Walkers for every session. This ensures that every rider—whether working on core strength, sensory regulation, or simply finding a sense of calm—receives the undivided attention they need in our controlled, fenced arena.
How Our Sessions Work
Our approach relies on the horse's natural gait and rhythm. For riders with Autism, ADHD, or Cerebral Palsy, the rhythmic movement provides vestibular input that can regulate heart rate and improve spatial awareness. We don't just focus on the riding; we focus on the dialogue between the rider and the horse.
Skills and Development
We treat riding as a shared activity rather than a rigid lesson. We integrate motor games—such as reaching for objects or throwing balls—to help improve hand-eye coordination and core strength. The sessions are fully tailored to the individual, meaning we set goals based on your specific needs, whether that is improving posture, building confidence, or simply learning to relax in a new environment.
Our Therapy Horses
We specifically select desensitized horses for these sessions. These animals are patient, predictable, and remarkably calm. They act as mirrors for the rider's emotional state, which helps children and adults alike in self-regulation and awareness.
Safety and Environment
All sessions take place at our Jakkur facility. We utilize ASTM-standard helmets and harnesses to ensure physical security. My team is trained to handle the specific requirements of each individual, creating a space where the primary goal is progress at the rider's own pace, not external performance.
