Find Peace Through Yoga in Nature
Practicing yoga outdoors shifts the energy entirely. It transforms your mat into a space where you connect directly with the earth, letting the surroundings guide your breath and movement.
As a water baby, practicing yoga at the beach, with the waves washing over me, is pure bliss. Here I am in a split variation in the waters of Thailand.

Yoga plus nature equals bliss. I can't thank the universe enough for bringing yoga into my life. Here I am practicing Vrksasana (Tree Pose) in front of a mountain lake.

Another angle of my practice against the colorful graffiti in Toronto. Finding art and inspiration in urban environments is just as beautiful as in nature.

About Yoga in Nature
When you practice on natural ground—whether it's sand at a beach or the soil in a park—you immediately notice a difference. The surface is rarely level, which forces your stabilizers to work harder and helps you build real-world balance. This isn't about hitting a perfect pose for a photo; it is about learning to adjust your body and mind to the environment. If you are struggling with focus or feel stuck in a rut, changing your surroundings is often the first step toward breaking that pattern.
For me, yoga is a 'work-in', and nowhere is that more obvious than when practicing in nature. When I travel, from the beaches of Thailand to the mountains in Canada, I take my practice with me. It reminds me that we do not need a studio, expensive mats, or mirrors to find clarity. We only need our breath.
Why Nature Changes Your Practice
In a studio, the environment is controlled. Outside, the wind, the texture of the ground, and the ambient sounds become part of your flow. This acts as a sensory grounding technique. If you are a beginner, this might feel intimidating, but I promise it is the most liberating way to learn. You stop comparing your asana to the person next to you and start listening to how your joints and muscles feel in the open air.
My Outdoor Approach
My outdoor sessions focus heavily on Hatha-inspired grounding and simple Pranayama. We start by tuning into the environment, taking a moment to sit and observe, and then moving into a flow that matches the energy of the location.
Is this for you?
If you are feeling disconnected or burnt out, outdoor practice is a gentle reset. You do not need to be an expert to start. I offer modifications for every posture, ensuring that whether we are practicing in a local park or a quiet retreat space, your body feels supported, safe, and heard. Let's find your space together.
