About this collection
When you choose a Kanjeevaram from my collection, you are getting authentic 100% Mulberry silk. I personally look for the traditional Korvai weaving where the body and border meet, which ensures that crisp, structured pleat that Kanjeevaram lovers crave. Every piece is selected for its zari weight and how the colors harmonize in natural light, not just how they look on a hanger.
Finding the right Kanjeevaram is a journey, and that is why I focus on the details that make a saree truly special. In this collection, I have focused on the 'Queen of Silks' in its most honest form. You will find standard 5.5-meter drapes crafted with heavy, structured silk that holds its shape through hours of festivities.
Why Kanjeevaram Matters
Unlike lighter fabrics, a true Kanjeevaram is about the weight and the craft. Whether you are looking for classic solid blocks, double shades, or those rare designer pieces featuring block printing on silk, the quality of the mulberry base is non-negotiable. I avoid heavy machinery and prioritize handloom weaves that represent the best of Kanchipuram.
More Than Just a Saree
If you have a classic silk saree but feel the look is dated, check out the blouse pieces I bring back from my travels. A rich rani pink blouse with peacock motifs or a delicate silver butti piece can completely transform how an old saree sits on you. These are limited edition finds, often featuring traditional animal motifs woven in gold zari, and they are perfect for custom tailoring at my studio.
Caring for Your Silk
These pieces are investment items. Because they feature real zari and pure silk, I always recommend storing them wrapped in soft cotton to allow the fabric to breathe. If you are ever unsure about a specific shade or border type for a wedding or Varamahalakshmi, drop by my Rajajinagar store. I would love to show you the difference between our semi-silks and the grand, heavy bridal Katan silks in person.
