About The Art of Couture: Behind the Seams
Every gown you see here begins as a rough sketch before we start the labor-intensive process of draping and structure. Whether I am hand-placing 3D floral appliqués or setting the bones in our premium corsets, my goal is to ensure the dress sits perfectly on your frame. It takes hours of concentration at the sewing machine to align the tulle and lace, but seeing that final silhouette come together makes every stitch worth the effort.
Creating a gown is rarely about just the final fabric. At my Commercial Street studio, it starts with a vision, often inspired by nature or a specific mood.
The Architecture of a Gown True couture is not just about how a dress looks, but how it holds the body. For our premium gowns, I insist on heavy structural corsetry. We use up to 12 bones to ensure the bodice provides support and the right silhouette, something you will rarely find in ready-to-wear pieces. We then layer 4 to 6 levels of tulle and net to build that signature volume.
The Hand-Embroidery Process I am personally involved in the embellishment phase. From cutting the petals for 3D floral appliqués to meticulously applying crystals and cut-dana glass beads, every detail is handled by hand. This is not just decoration; it is how we add texture and life to the fabric. You can see the difference in how the light catches the embroidery when you move.
Custom Fittings Because we do everything in-house, we can adjust the design as we build it. Whether you are coming in for a trial of our Gulfam collection or starting a custom bridal piece from scratch, the fitting process is where we fine-tune the structure. If you need a specific train length or want to adjust the neckline for a more modest look, we handle those changes during the construction phase. It is this hands-on approach that turns a simple piece of fabric into a statement of your personal style.
