About Sleek, Wet & Sculptural Hair
The 'wet look' is not just about using the right product; it is about controlling the texture so it remains glossy without looking unwashed or greasy under bright studio lights. I prioritize high-hold, clean finishes that maintain their shape even with constant movement, ensuring the hair stays sharp and camera-ready for every single take.
Precision and Technique
When I am on set for a fashion shoot, hair is part of the styling, not just an afterthought. Achieving a high-fashion, sleek look requires balancing heavy-duty hold with high-shine gloss that does not catch the light in a way that disrupts the photographer's frame. Whether I am crafting a tight, sculptural knot bun or a dramatic wet-effect style, my process is designed to withstand the intensity of an 8-hour shift.
My Approach to Editorial Hair
My work ranges from clean commercial ponytails for brand campaigns to more experimental, avant-garde textures for fashion editorials. I work closely with the stylist and photographer to ensure the hair complements the outfit and the lighting scheme.
- Wet Looks: I use specialized gels and smoothing agents that provide a long-lasting, fluid appearance. I check the monitor constantly to fix flyaways that show up in high-resolution close-ups.
- Sculptural Shapes: For more conceptual work, I focus on structural integrity. I ensure that wire-work, braids, or twisted updos are secure enough for movement but clean enough to look deliberate in the final image.
- Maintenance: On set, I provide constant touch-ups, managing shine and texture changes between takes, so the team can focus on the shoot rather than the hair.
I am based in Mumbai but I travel across India for commercial projects and lookbook shoots. If your concept requires a specific level of technical styling, I am ready to collaborate.
Deepti Soste
I’m Deepti. Hair is a major part of the visual language on any set, so I approach it with the same precision as makeup. I focus on clean, structural work that stands up to camera movement and studio lighting, whether it is a sharp ponytail for a brand campaign or an avant-garde shape for an editorial.
