A safari is about more than just seeing animals; it is about the patience, the tracking, and the stories behind the lens. Join me on a journey to capture the wild.

Out in the field, surrounded by the tea gardens of the Western Ghats. Carrying a heavy lens is part of the job, but the results are always worth the effort.

A happy moment in the safari jeep. The joy of being in the jungle and sharing it with fellow enthusiasts is what makes my job so rewarding.

With my camera and tripod, ready for action in the forest. I provide on-field coaching to help you get the most out of your own equipment.

Watching the sunset after a long day of photography. The quiet moments in nature are just as important as the dramatic sightings.

My passion for the jungle is a part of who I am. I bring that passion and my 15 years of experience to every tour I lead.

After 15 years, I still smile when people say my camera takes good photos. It's a combination of gear, skill, and a lot of patience. This video shows some of the results.

Unboxing a new Sony 400mm lens with my friend and fellow photographer Sudhir Shivaram. Having the right gear is crucial, and I can advise you on what to bring for your trip.

About this collection

You will spend more time waiting than shooting, and that is where the magic actually happens. On my safaris, we focus on interpreting alarm calls and anticipating animal movement, not just chasing sightings. You will learn how to adjust your settings in a split second when a tiger finally breaks cover, turning a lucky guess into a calculated, professional shot.

Beyond the Shutter

Most people think a great photo is just about having a fast camera. After 15 years in the field, I know it is about anticipation. When we are out in the jeep in places like Kabini or Tadoba, I am not just driving you to see animals. We are constantly reading the forest. Is the deer alarm call for a leopard or a tiger? Which direction is the wind blowing? Where will the light fall in five minutes?

My Approach to Fieldwork

On these tours, I am right there with you. We don't just point and shoot. We work on:

  • Predictive Framing: Learning to anticipate animal behavior so you are ready before the action starts.
  • Technical Proficiency: Moving off auto-mode to master exposure compensation and depth of field in changing light conditions.
  • Ethical Wildlife Practices: Understanding how to observe animals without disturbing their natural behavior.

Whether we are in a dense forest or tracking on rocky outcrops, the goal is for you to walk away with a portfolio that shows you understand the subject, not just the gear. We do evening reviews to look at what worked, what didn't, and how you can sharpen your composition skills for the next drive.

Real-World Logistics

These tours are designed for serious enthusiasts. We spend long hours in the field, often starting before dawn and ending at dusk. You get 4 guided jeep safaris per tour, ensuring you have enough time to actually learn the terrain and get comfortable with your surroundings. Bring your gear, bring your patience, and be ready to learn how the jungle really speaks.

I am Mahesh. I have spent over 15 years chasing wild stories from the forests of India to the African plains. I do not believe in just snapping photos; I believe in understanding the light, the forest, and the animal’s behavior so you can capture moments that actually mean something.
