Creative Crafts & Mixed Media Art Classes
Art is about messy hands, big smiles, and letting your imagination run wild! Here, we turn everyday items like foil, salt, and paper into 3D sculptures and textured masterpieces. 🎨✨
I show kids that art is everywhere and can be made from anything. These amazing cat sculptures were created by kindergarteners and first graders using simple paper cups. This activity is fantastic for developing fine motor skills and learning about upcycling.
We're diving deep into creativity with these 'under the sea' canvases. In my classes, we explore mixed media, using materials like clay and shells to add texture and bring our paintings to life. It’s all about hands-on, messy fun!
Watch as we fold and create! This project combines painting a beautiful sunset sea with making a simple two-step origami boat. It's a perfect example of how I mix different art forms in one class.
Here’s a fun tutorial on how to use aluminum foil to create amazing fish art. This mixed-media technique adds a wonderful metallic texture and shine, showing kids how to think outside the box with their materials.
Did you know you can paint with salt? This video shows a magical technique where we sprinkle salt onto wet watercolor to create beautiful, crystallized textures. It's a fun science experiment and art project in one!
Squeegee art is so satisfying and fun! In this tutorial, you can see how we use a squeegee to pull paint across the paper, creating bold, colorful characters. It’s an easy technique that produces amazing results.
About Creative Crafts & Mixed Media
In my studio, we don't just paint—we experiment. Whether it is sprinkling salt on watercolors to create crystalline textures or crafting 3D fish with aluminum foil, every project focuses on building fine motor skills and confidence. You won't find rigid rules here; instead, your child gets to use materials like sea shells, yarn, and air-dry clay to turn their wildest ideas into tactile, finished art pieces.
Art isn't just about what ends up on the paper. It is about how we get there. By working with mixed media, children learn that creativity has no boundaries—a paper cup can become a sculpture, and a simple squeegee can create bold, modern designs.
My studio in Khar West, Mumbai, is designed to be a safe space where kids can unwind and explore different textures and techniques without the pressure of being 'perfect'. We regularly dive into projects like:
- Sculpture & Upcycling: Transforming everyday waste into art using paper cups, cardboard, and recycled materials.
- Textural Experiments: Playing with salt, bubble wrap, and foil to create effects that standard paintbrushes just cannot achieve.
- Multi-Material Collages: Combining clay, shells, and yarn to add depth and dimension to our canvases.
These activities are more than just 'fun craft'. They are designed to improve pincer grips, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness in children aged 5 to 11. Whether your child is quiet or super chatty, they will find their rhythm here. Every session is capped at 4-8 students, so I can ensure everyone gets the hands-on guidance they need to feel proud of what they create. Let’s get messy and make something beautiful together! 🌟💖
Little Hands by Uttara
Hi, I am Uttara! I started Little Hands because I believe art should feel like play, not a chore. Seeing a child transform a humble paper cup or a scrap of foil into something unique is what makes my day. I am here to guide your child through that same magical process.
