Large-Scale Sculpture and 3D Art Classes
From clay modeling to 3D relief, learn how to turn raw materials into detailed art. Whether you are building a professional portfolio or exploring a new hobby, our studio sessions focus on bringing your imagination to life through form and structure.
This large-scale Lord Shiva sculpture, shown here in its clay modeling stage, is an example of the advanced sculptural work we undertake. It showcases the level of detail and anatomical precision taught in our specialized sculpture workshops.
A wider view of the studio during the creation of the Lord Shiva sculpture. You can see the scale of the project and the environment where my team and I bring these massive figures to life.
An artist at work on a large bas-relief wall sculpture of a woman's profile. This demonstrates the process of sculpting directly onto a surface to create impactful 3D wall art for interior spaces.
The creation of a life-sized angel sculpture, from the initial rough form to the refined final details. This piece highlights the process of capturing emotion and form in classical sculpture.
A close-up of the sculpting process for the angel figure. Using fine tools, I am shaping the delicate facial features, a key part of our advanced clay modeling lessons.
Work in progress on a character bust with a top hat. This type of figurative sculpture is a great project for students looking to master facial anatomy and expressive details.
A large, classical-style head sculpture being formed from clay. This piece is used to teach fundamental techniques in creating realistic proportions and textures for hair and beards.
Detailing a 3D wall art piece featuring a sewing machine and a banjo. This shows how we can turn everyday objects into unique, textured art for themed interior designs.
A student adds intricate mandala patterns to a black panther sculpture, and another works on a large-scale portrait mural. This shows the variety of 3D and large-format projects available at the academy.
About Large-Scale Sculpture & 3D Art
Sculpture is 10% vision and 90% understanding the weight and balance of your clay. In my studio, we do not start with abstract theory. We start with the armature. You will learn to build a stable frame and layer your material to achieve anatomical accuracy, whether you are crafting a life-sized bust or a complex wall relief. It is messy, physical, and the fastest way to understand how form interacts with light.
Working in three dimensions forces you to slow down and see the world differently. In our Kalkaji studio, we move beyond basic clay handling to explore advanced techniques used in both fine art and interior design.
What You Will Learn
- Armature & Construction: How to create a structural foundation that supports the weight of your clay without collapsing.
- Anatomy & Proportions: We break down facial structures and figure proportions to ensure your sculptures look realistic and grounded.
- Bas-Relief & Wall Art: Learn how to sculpt directly onto a surface, a skill perfect for those interested in creating custom murals or unique home decor.
- Surface Detailing: How to use specialized tools to create texture, hair, or fabric effects that make a piece feel finished and intentional.
For students preparing for NIFT, NID, or other design college portfolios, we combine these 3D projects with charcoal realism to develop a well-rounded skill set. If you are joining for a hobby, the focus remains on the joy of creating; we have the tools, the space, and the reference library to help you work on projects ranging from small busts to larger, wall-mounted installations.
Sculpture is about patience. You will learn to observe, reshape, and layer until the form emerges. It does not require prior experience, just the willingness to get your hands dirty and learn the basics of spatial design.
