The Little Worlds: Reptiles, Insects & Macro Photography
I find beauty in the details most people walk right past. From the vibrant scales of a rock agama to the delicate patterns on a butterfly’s wing, this is a look into the hidden ecosystems thriving around Bengaluru.
About this collection
People think macro photography is all about the expensive lens. Really, it is about the patience to stay still in the mud for hours. When I shoot a rock agama or a snake, I do not move. I use my 300mm lens to keep my distance, ensuring I do not disturb the creature while capturing those sharp, detailed textures you see in the gallery.
Behind the Shot
Most people look at a snake or a lizard and think 'danger' or 'gross.' I look and see a story. Whether I am trekking in Ramanagara or just hanging out by a local lake like Sanky Tank, my goal is to show the character of these tiny residents.
The Gear and The Grit
I keep my kit simple with a Nikon D3500 and a 300mm lens. This combo is tumba (very) important for my style. It allows me to stay far enough away to respect the wildlife's space while still getting that crisp, eye-level detail. Photography is only half the battle; the rest happens on my laptop. I spend hours on post-processing, pulling out the colors and adjusting the mood, because that is where the image actually comes to life.
Why Bangalore?
We have incredible biodiversity if you know where to look. From the rocky terrains of Turahalli to the misty edges of our city lakes, nature is always there, just waiting for a quiet moment. If you are interested in a session, be prepared to wake up early. I am a sunrise person. The morning light is softer, the creatures are active, and the city is still quiet.
FAQ
Do you handle snakes or insects? No, I keep my distance. I am a photographer, not a handler. I photograph them in their natural habitat without disturbing them.
What should I expect in a macro session? We will be walking, waiting, and sitting in the dirt. It is a slow, observant process. You will learn to spot life in the small things, and we will get some great detailed shots.
Lalith
I am Lalith. When I am not working, I am probably on my Activa at 4 AM, chasing the sunrise to photograph a rock agama or a butterfly. Nature is where I find peace, and my camera is just my way of sharing those quiet, tiny moments with you.
