The Homemade Process: How Our Punjabi Pickles Are Made

We don't believe in machines or mass production. Every jar of our pickle is crafted by hand, exactly how it's done in our family kitchen.

Here you can see my Mom preparing a bulk order of mango pickle. Every piece is mixed by hand to ensure the masala is coated perfectly.

A fresh batch of mango pickle ready for bottling. The vibrant colour comes from fresh ingredients and my special spice mix, with no artificial colours.

This is what my mango pickle looks like right after it's mixed. You can see the pieces of raw mango and the texture of the freshly ground spices.

A close-up of the mango pickle preparation. The combination of green mango skin and yellow flesh with dark spices looks as good as it tastes.

Another look inside a jar of freshly prepared mango pickle. I make sure every jar is packed to the brim with flavour.

My tangy mango pickle, with visible seeds like kalonji (nigella seeds) mixed in for that authentic Punjabi flavour.

Preparing a batch of my tangy Amla Pickle. The whole amlas are being mixed with my signature red masala in a traditional kadai.

The process of coating each amla in spices. This step is crucial for ensuring the pickle develops a deep and consistent flavour.

About The Homemade Process

We don't stock our pickles. Every single batch is prepared only after you place your order, which is why your jar arrives fresh and full of flavour. We personally hand-mix the masalas and vegetables, ensuring that every piece is coated perfectly and maintains that crunch and depth you expect from a traditional Punjabi recipe.

How We Make Our Pickles

Transparency is part of our recipe. When you order from us, you aren't getting something that sat on a shelf for months. We run our kitchen in small, manageable batches to ensure quality control. Here is what happens behind the scenes when we prep your order:

  • The Spice Roast: We roast our own masalas in-house. This step creates a smoky, deep flavour profile that you just cannot get from pre-mixed, store-bought powders.
  • The Oil Base: We use only Kacchi Ghani (cold-pressed) mustard oil. It acts as a natural preservative and gives the pickles that authentic, pungent kick essential for Punjabi cuisine. We never touch palm oil or refined alternatives.
  • Hand-Mixed Quality: From peeling the garlic for our ginger-garlic pickle to hand-cutting the mangoes for our classic tangy variant, everything is done by human hands. This allows us to inspect every ingredient for freshness before it hits the masala mix.

Why Ingredients Matter

We keep our ingredient list short and clean. You won't find artificial colours, liquid paraffin, or heavy preservatives here. The vibrant colour you see in our Red Chilli or Mango pickle comes entirely from fresh, high-quality produce and our spice blends.

Whether you need a bulk order for a function or a single jar for your hostel, the process remains the same. If you have specific dietary needs, like Jain-friendly pickles without onion or garlic, we create a separate production run just for you to avoid any cross-contamination. We take pride in sharing real home-style food, and we want you to know exactly what you are eating.
