About Premium Finishes: Glass, Acrylic & PU
Picking a premium finish like back-painted glass or PU is about more than just the look. These surfaces catch light beautifully, but they must be applied on high-quality BWP 710 marine plywood to prevent moisture damage in our humid climate. If you choose a cheaper plywood base, even the most expensive acrylic finish will start peeling or bubbling within a couple of years.
When you invest in a modular kitchen, the finish is the face, but the base material is the heart. My philosophy is simple: don't compromise on the structure just to save on the look.
Why Premium Finishes Matter
- Back-Painted Glass: This is my go-to for a sophisticated, sleek look. It is exceptionally easy to clean and reflects light, making even smaller Mumbai kitchens feel more open. I always use safety glass to ensure durability.
- High-Gloss Acrylic: If you want that perfect mirror-like finish, acrylic is the answer. It is anti-scratch and maintains its color even after years of use, provided the application process is airtight.
- Silk Matt PU Finish: For a luxurious, soft-touch vibe, PU (Polyurethane) is unmatched. It is completely seamless, meaning there are no edge bands that can peel off, giving you a smooth, high-end furniture feel.
The Quality Trap
Many people worry about modular kitchens because they have seen cheaper versions fail. The difference lies in the hardware and the edge banding. I insist on using Blum Legrabox drawers and Häfele fittings for all my premium projects. These brands are designed to handle heavy daily use without sagging or making noise. Whether you are in Malad or Dadar, we focus on precision at the manufacturing stage so that when we install, it is a one-time job that lasts you for a decade or more. If you are confused about which finish will suit your lifestyle or your cooking habits, let's talk. We can figure out what works for your space.
KK Modular Kitchen
I am Nazim Khan, and I have spent the last 15 years proving that modular kitchens don't have to be 'use-and-throw.' When we talk about premium finishes like PU or back-painted glass, I insist on heavy-duty hardware like Blum because a beautiful kitchen that doesn't function smoothly is useless. Let’s build you a space that looks like a masterpiece but works like a workshop.
