Outdoor Gymnastics Training for Kids
I bring our gymnastics classes outside to the turf, giving your little ones the fresh air and space they need to master cartwheels and handstands. It is all about building confidence in an open environment where they can really move.
This is what it's all about. I love seeing my students build strength and confidence while having fun on our outdoor turf. We practice everything from basic handstands to cartwheels in a safe and encouraging space.
About Outdoor Training on the Turf
When kids move from the indoor mats to the turf, everything changes. They have more space to try a cartwheel or a handstand, and that extra room often gives them the courage to finally nail the move. I use this outdoor space specifically to help them get comfortable with bigger, dynamic movements that might feel a bit intimidating in a tighter indoor setting.
Why Outdoor Training Matters
Gymnastics is about more than just flips. It is about understanding how your body moves in different spaces. While my indoor studio is perfect for learning the basics on soft, interlocking foam mats, the outdoor turf area provides a different kind of challenge. The surface is stable yet forgiving, which is perfect for building the agility required for speed kicks and proper body alignment.
What We Work On
In these outdoor sessions, we focus on dynamic movement patterns. This includes:
- Agility Drills: Bear crawls and frog jumps that build full-body strength.
- Inversion Practice: Assisted handstands and cartwheel mechanics that help children overcome the fear of being upside down.
- Flexibility: Stretches that are easier to do when there is plenty of room to spread out.
My Coaching Approach
I treat every child like a future champion, even if they are just here to have fun. For me, these gymnastics sessions are the foundation for everything else, including the Taekwondo training I conduct. When a child learns how to control their limbs and balance on the turf, that confidence carries over into their school life and other sports. I keep the atmosphere light and playful, because a child who is having fun is a child who is learning.
