Authentic Taekwondo and Martial Arts Training
This is what happens when you commit. At Kim's Taekwondo, we don't just teach kicks; we build strength, discipline, and the guts to push further. See the form for yourself.
This is what you work towards. A student demonstrates a flying side kick to break a board during an outdoor demonstration. This level of power and aerial control is achieved through relentless practice of gyeokpa, our power breaking techniques.
Power is not about size, it is about technique. Here, a student executes a perfect knife-hand strike to break a stack of roofing tiles. This gyeokpa demonstration shows the focus and precision I demand from every student.
Sparring, or kyorugi, starts early. My youngest students learn control, timing, and respect for their partners while wearing full protective gear. We practice dolyo chagi (roundhouse kick) drills to build reflexes in a safe environment.
Taekwondo is not just kicking. It is about building a strong body. Here, an adult student works on upper body and core strength using the monkey bars, a key part of our martial arts fitness conditioning.
I guide every student to perfect their technique. This is a one on one kicking drill where I hold the target pad to correct a student's form and power for a back kick. Personal attention ensures proper development.
Flexibility is mandatory for powerful kicks and preventing injury. My students, from the youngest to the oldest, work on their splits and other stretches daily. This is the foundation for high kicks and agility.
Discipline is built through synchronized action. Here, students perform a coordinated core and leg strengthening exercise. This builds individual strength and the unity of the class.
About Featured
You will not find flashy shortcuts here. Whether you join my 12-session monthly group class or a private self-defense session, the focus is entirely on your technique. You will sweat through agility ladders, perfect your striking form, and build real grip strength on the monkey bars before we even touch a kicking paddle. Come to the dojang ready to work.
Our Training Philosophy
At Kim's Taekwondo Academy in HRBR Layout, we do it the proper way. Charyeot (Attention). We don't believe in just going through the motions. If you are here, you are here to get stronger. My classes are structured to push you past what you think is possible, using traditional Korean methods and rigorous physical conditioning.
What We Cover
- Kyorugi (Sparring): We practice controlled sparring where you learn to manage distance and timing against a live partner. We use full protective gear, including chest guards (hogu) and headgear, so you can train safely but hard.
- Poomsae (Forms): This is where you master the art and flow of Taekwondo. It teaches precision, balance, and focus.
- Gyeokpa (Power Breaking): Once your technique is sharp, you will test your power by breaking boards and tiles. It is a measure of your progress and a massive confidence builder.
- Conditioning: Before you fight, you must build the body of a fighter. We use agility ladders, plyometrics, and intense bodyweight exercises to ensure you move like lightning.
The Facility
We train on 25mm interlocking EVA puzzle mats for proper grip and safety. The facility is cooled by wall and ceiling fans, and equipped with everything from hanging kicking shields to ceiling-mounted monkey bars for grip strength. This is not a hangout spot. We work, we sweat, and you will see the change.
