Inside My Home Studio: The Art of Handmade
Get a peek into my home studio where colors clash, threads tangle, and unique art happens. This is where every stitch is handmade, plastic-free, and full of heart.
Welcome to a busy Saturday in my home studio. My table is full of so much stuff, from bangles I'm painting to a new toran being stitched. This is a real look at how I make things.
This is how my 'color bombs' are made. I take fabric printed with my art and wrap it around beads to create these little bursts of color chaos. They're coming soon to a new toran.
This is a typical Friday night for me. I'm grooving to some 90s Indipop while putting the finishing touches on a toran, and my husband is trying to study in the background. It's all part of the fun.
About Behind the Scenes
My studio table isn't about perfectly staged photos, it is about the hours of hand-stitching that go into every toran or bangle. I focus on every thread and bead to ensure your piece is truly pakka kaam—built to last, entirely handmade, and completely free of plastic.
When you order from me, you are not getting something mass-produced from a factory floor. You are getting a piece of my home, my family's chaotic routine, and my obsession with sustainable materials.
Every morning, I sit down with my intern, Jyoti, to sort through beads, hand-paint wooden motifs, and stitch everything together using strong, reliable thread. We ditch plastic entirely. Instead, you will find glass beads, ceramic, wood, and cotton fabric—materials that age beautifully and feel good to touch.
I share these behind-the-scenes clips because I want you to see the real work behind the art. Whether it is a 46-inch long toran or a small set of hand-painted bangles, each item undergoes a slow process. I reinforce the back with felt, I knot every string, and I ensure the ghungroos have that perfect chime. If you see a piece on my table, know it has been made with a lot of love, a bit of Indipop music in the background, and my dogs, Bingo and Chiku, usually napping nearby.
If you have a wild idea for a custom piece, let's talk. I love a good challenge and I am always looking for new ways to bring color into your home.
