About Art Exhibitions & Open Studios

Our studio is designed to be felt, not just seen. With raw concrete floors, clean white walls, and flexible track lighting, the space adapts to your exhibition needs without ever feeling sterile or overly formal. It is an intimate setting where visitors stop to engage with the art and read the curatorial notes, rather than just walking through.

Kānike translates to 'gift' in Kannada, and we treat our studio as exactly that. We built this space in Cooke Town to move away from the cold, intimidating feel of standard gallery cubes. We wanted a place where the process matters as much as the final piece.

Whether you are planning a solo exhibition, an artist residency, or a small pop-up, the studio offers a blank, adaptable canvas. You have 1,200 sq ft of space with high ceilings and natural light, complemented by professional track lighting to highlight your work. The floor plan is fluid, allowing for standing crowds of 30-40 guests, or more intimate floor seating for workshops and poetry nights.

We do not just hand over the keys. We view exhibitions as a collaboration, which is why your rental includes an on-site manager to help with logistics and entry, as well as a shout-out on our social channels to help get the word out to our community. We have hosted everything from international artist residencies to quiet, introspective book launches. If your work involves tactile, analog, or storytelling elements, you will find that the space responds well to those textures.
