This is the first thing you see on our profile. We've selected these visuals to give you a true sense of the creative energy and community spirit that defines Kānike. From hands-on workshops to our unique analog photography facilities, this is a glimpse into what makes our space a home for artists.
Hands-On Creative Workshops
We host a wide range of workshops focused on handmade and analog art forms. Our sessions are designed for small groups of 6 to 10 people, ensuring everyone gets personal guidance from the facilitator in a friendly, collaborative setting. We cover everything from botanical ink painting and pottery to leather crafting and bookbinding.
A Hub for Analog & Alternative Photography
Our studio is specially equipped for photographers who love old-school processes. We have a fully functional darkroom, a large UV lightbox for cyanotypes, and the space to support everything from wet plate collodion to traditional black and white film development and printing. We regularly host workshops on these historic techniques.
Art Exhibitions & Open Studios
Our studio is an intimate and versatile gallery space. With clean white walls, concrete floors, and adjustable track lighting, it serves as the perfect backdrop for solo shows, group exhibitions, artist residencies, and open studio events where creators can share their process with the community.
Community Events & Gatherings
Kānike is more than just a studio; it's a gathering place. We love hosting intimate events that bring our creative community together, from cozy acoustic music sets and poetry nights to artist talks, book launches, and celebratory dinners. Our space is best for gatherings of 20 to 40 people.
Our Space: A Home for Creatives
Kānike means 'gift' in Kannada, and we want the studio to feel like one. It's a space run by artists, for artists, filled with natural light, flexible furniture, and unique touches. Whether you're working late on a project or just stopping by, you'll find a welcoming atmosphere, and our studio cat, Julie, might even come say hello.
