Kopi, Teh & Snacks: A Taste of Malaysia in Bangalore

Step into my little corner of Malaysia right here in Indiranagar. This is where we slow down with strong coffee, pulling tea, and the simple, nostalgic comfort of kaya toast.

This is not your regular chai, it’s Teh Tarik, or 'pulled tea'. We make it with black tea, condensed milk, and evaporated milk, and the pulling technique gives it a special frothy, creamy texture. It’s a staple drink you can enjoy any time of the day.

Someone put me on the spot with a fun rapid fire round. I shared some of my personal favourites from the menu, from my go to noodle dish, Wantan Mee, to my ultimate comfort food, Nasi Lemak. It was hard to choose just one.

A refreshing mango dessert to cool you down. This cup has creamy coconut sago, topped with a scoop of bright mango sorbet, fresh mango chunks, and a little lime zest. It's a perfect sweet treat after a spicy meal.

About Kopi, Teh & Snacks

When you order the Kaya breakfast set, it is all about the temperature and the texture. That cold slab of salted butter needs to melt just right against the warm, house-made coconut kaya and the toasted Shokupan bread. It is a balancing act—crispy, soft, sweet, and salty all in one bite. I always recommend dipping your toast into the soft-boiled eggs for that extra savoury kick; it is how we grew up eating it.

At a Kopitiam, the drinks and snacks are the heart of the conversation. In Malaysia, our coffee shops were never about rushing; they were about the daily ritual of 'Kopi' and 'Teh'.

The Art of the Pull

My Teh Tarik is not your average chai. The 'pull' is everything. We pour the mixture of black tea, condensed milk, and evaporated milk back and forth between two metal jugs. This isn't just for show—it aerates the tea, giving it that distinct, creamy, frothy texture that you cannot get any other way. It is best enjoyed hot, but on a warm Bangalore afternoon, the iced version hits the spot.

My Childhood Staples

Everything on this menu is what I grew up eating. If you want the real experience, start with the Hainanese-style Kopi C. It is strong, smooth, and feels familiar the moment you take a sip. Pair that with our Char Siu Bao or a few pieces of traditional kueh.

We keep the vibe old-school and intentionally unpolished. You will see antiques and tins from my childhood scattered around. It is meant to be a place where you can come alone with a book or catch up with a friend, without the need for fancy settings. Just good food, Malaysian heritage, and memories.

I’m Joonie, and this space is my childhood brought to life. I wanted to create a spot in Bangalore where you can just slow down with a strong Kopi C or a frothy Teh Tarik, exactly like we did back home.
