Vocal Showcase: Song Covers and Performance Challenges
I love pushing my vocal limits by tackling iconic tracks across genres, from R&B riffs to Bollywood classics. Here is a look at the covers and challenges that keep my voice ready for the stage.
Attempting the live version of Raye's "Oscar Winning Tears." She is an insane vocalist, and this was a great challenge to push my own live performance skills.
This was me attempting the "Bridge over Troubled Water" riff challenge by Jacob Collier and Tori Kelly. Their vocal abilities are out of this world, and this was so fun to try.
A throwback to the "Plastic Off the Sofa" riff challenge by Beyoncé. Her vocal control is legendary, and this was a great exercise in precision and agility.
My own groovy version of "Escapism" by Raye and 070 Shake. I love the vibe of this song and wanted to put my own spin on it.
What if Ariana Grande's "Yes, And?" was an R&B track? Here's my take on her comeback song, focusing on a smoother, soulful vocal delivery.
A cover of Ariana Grande's "We can't be friends." I've been a fan for years, and I really enjoyed interpreting the emotion of this song from her new album.
I didn't kill my ex, but I killed this cover of "Kill Bill" by SZA. I had a lot of fun playing with the harmonies and the storytelling in this track.
A cover of the bridge from "Good Luck Babe" by Chappell Roan. I love the 80s vibe of this song and went all in on the powerful vocal performance.
A cover of Demi Lovato's "You Don't Do It For Me Anymore." Demi is a powerhouse, and this song is perfect for showing off vocal belting and emotional range.
I took on the open verse challenge for Shuba's banger "1st Gen." As a first-generation immigrant myself, I had a lot of fun writing a verse that tells a piece of my own story.
About Vocal Showcase: Covers & Challenges
When I tackle a cover or a viral riff challenge, I do not just mimic the original. I deconstruct the vocal agility required for artists like Raye or Jacob Collier, then bring that specific technique into the songs I write for your events. Whether you need a powerful belt or delicate acoustic phrasing, you are hearing the exact skills I will bring to your special day.
Music is about language and emotion, which is why I record covers in Tamil, Hindi, and English. Tackling the complex runs in a SZA track or the raspy energy of an Anirudh song is not just for social media. It is how I train my voice to handle any vibe your event requires. I record most of these at Streamphony in Jayamahal, where my mentor Richard helps me polish the nuances. This process is how I learned to transition from the intimacy of a piano ballad to the high-energy demands of a rock show. If you are hiring me for your event, you are getting a vocalist who understands how to shape a set list that keeps the energy shifting. I can swing from soulful R&B interpretations of Ariana Grande to nostalgic Bollywood classics like Sunidhi Chauhan’s Kaise Paheli. By the time we hit the studio or the stage for your event, I know exactly how to manage breath, tone, and projection to keep the audience engaged.
