About Up Close & Personal: Hand & Rod Puppetry
Our hand and rod puppetry shows go beyond just watching, as they are designed to be fully interactive. We bring a self-standing, 8ft x 6ft professional booth along with all necessary sound and lighting equipment, so you do not have to worry about the logistics of creating a stage space.
Hand and rod puppetry is the bedrock of interactive storytelling. Unlike larger, open-space spectacles, these shows thrive on intimacy. The proximity between the puppet and the viewer allows for a genuine connection that keeps children and adults alike glued to the performance.
What to Expect
Whether it is the classic lessons of the Panchatantra or a fresh, contemporary tale, our performers use live voice acting rather than pre-recorded tracks. This keeps the energy high and allows our puppeteers to respond to the room's mood in real-time. Our standard 40 to 45 minute performance is always followed by a 10 minute meet-and-greet session. This gives the audience a chance to see the puppets up close and gives children a peek behind the curtain to understand how the characters come to life.
Practical Details
We provide everything needed for a seamless performance. Our setup includes:
- A professional, self-standing puppet booth with masking curtains.
- A portable PA system with lapel microphones for clear dialogue.
- Integrated booth lighting to ensure the puppets are the focus.
This format is ideal for birthday parties or school events where you want high-quality entertainment without the stress of managing complex technical requirements. Our cast of 3 to 4 professional puppeteers arrives early to set up, ensuring your event flows smoothly from start to finish.
