My design process begins with a heart-to-heart conversation to understand your vision, followed by a collaborative search for fabrics like Benaras silk, glass organza, or French lace. We move through stages of sketching and material selection before my artisans begin the hand-embroidery work, ensuring every fitting brings us closer to a piece that fits perfectly and feels entirely your own.
The Journey from Sketch to Silhouette
Designing a custom garment is a collaborative experience. In my HSR Layout studio, I view every project as a dialogue between nature and fabric. Whether you are seeking a heavy bridal lehenga or a modern cocktail gown, the process is rooted in patience.
Consultation and Concept Everything starts with your story. During our first chat, we discuss your preferences, the occasion, and the aesthetic you want to convey. I sketch these concepts, allowing us to visualize the design before we commit to fabric. This stage is crucial for ensuring the final output matches your personal style.
Material Selection Fabric choice dictates the drape and longevity of your outfit. We select from premium Benaras silks, velvets, or imported crepes based on the silhouette. For embroidery, we often incorporate nature-inspired motifs—delicate petals, leaves, and floral patterns brought to life with Zardosi, French knots, or 3D floral appliqué.
Artisanal Craftsmanship My team of skilled artisans executes the design with precision. We specialize in complex hand-embroidery techniques, including Maggam work and cutwork. Because we prioritize quality over speed, each panel and border is treated as a canvas, ensuring that the finished product reflects the depth and texture of true couture.
The Fitting Process Structure is the foundation of elegance. For structured garments like gowns, we use internal boning, while lehengas are constructed with layers of can-can to achieve the desired volume. We conduct multiple fittings to refine the torso fit, shoulder fall, and hemline, ensuring you feel confident and comfortable in your ensemble.
