I replace rote memorization with hands-on play. Whether you are an educator, a parent, or a student, I help you build deep mathematical confidence using practical tools like my Yonjuu cards.

My son Kai and I demonstrate how to play Level 1 of Yonjuu, a math card game I created. This video shows the core of my philosophy: making learning a fun, engaging, and collaborative experience for families. The game is designed to build number sense and strategic thinking in a playful way.

A snapshot from a model teaching session at Cambridge School, where students are actively engaged and raising their hands. This image captures the energy I strive for in every classroom, moving away from passive listening to active, joyful participation.

Educators at a 'Math from Scratch' professional development workshop actively participate in a game of Yonjuu. My goal is to empower teachers with hands-on strategies they can immediately bring back to their own classrooms, making math both fun and conceptually clear.

This video provides a step-by-step tutorial for my math game, Yonjuu. I created it to transform abstract concepts into a tangible, strategic card game that strengthens number sense and logical reasoning for learners of all ages.

This infographic illustrates my approach to social-emotional learning (SEL). It contrasts signs of student disengagement with practical strategies for reconnection, such as empathetic communication and autonomy support, which are central to my workshops for educators and parents.

A handwritten thank you note from a teacher who attended one of my math sessions. This kind of personal feedback is incredibly meaningful and affirms the impact of making learning interactive and joyful. It highlights how new methods can spark excitement for both teachers and students.

About this collection

I don't just teach math; I help you build it. Whether it is using my Yonjuu cards to visualize numbers or shifting a classroom from passive listening to active inquiry, my goal is to make the abstract tangible. I show you how to use everyday tools like playdough, cards, and storytelling to turn 'I can't do this' into 'I've got this.'

The Foundation of My Work

I spent two decades in classrooms watching students reach high school while still feeling unsure about their math foundations. I realized the problem wasn't their ability, but how we taught them. I didn't want to wait for the system to change, so I created Hattennoki to build that bridge myself.

How I Work With You

  • For Educators: I facilitate professional development that isn't just theory. We use 'Math from Scratch' modules to demonstrate how to use inquiry-based questioning. If you have ever felt like your current questioning techniques aren't sparking engagement, we work on shifting that dynamic, just like I did when I transitioned from 'Teacher A' to 'Teacher B' in my own practice.
  • For Parents & Kids: Homework shouldn't be a battle. My Mathefy Me workshops turn numbers into stories. We use games to build number sense and logical reasoning so that math becomes a collaborative experience rather than a solitary struggle.
  • The Yonjuu Difference: I designed the Yonjuu math game to be a practical tool for visual learners. It takes abstract arithmetic and makes it strategic. You can use it in a school setting to teach algebra, or at home to make basic addition fun.

Why Emotional Safety Matters

Math and reading don't happen in a vacuum. If a child feels anxious, they aren't learning. My work integrates social-emotional learning (SEL) because we must regulate our emotions before we can engage our brains. Whether I am training a department of 30 teachers or running a small skill-building camp, the goal remains the same: a healthy, confident, and curious learner.

I'm Jaspreet, and I spent years in classrooms watching students struggle with math foundations before I founded Hattennoki. I believe that when we shift from rote memorization to playful, hands-on inquiry, students don't just learn better—they start loving the process.
