# How to get a birthday party decorated in Bengaluru

## Q1. What does birthday decoration cost in Bengaluru?

**Birthday decoration here runs from about ₹1,000 for balloons on a wall to ₹2 lakh or more when a whole hall is done up for a big first birthday. The price depends on how much gets built.** Half the families who tell us their budget plan ₹5,000 or less. That buys a full balloon ring or a simple printed backdrop with your child's name.

- **Balloons on a wall or the ceiling, done for you:** About ₹1,000 to ₹3,000. What a local balloon decorator does: balloons in your colours, a foil number and a banner. - **A themed setup with character cutouts, for a living room or a clubhouse:** About ₹5,000 to ₹20,000. A print, a garland and a few small cutouts cost about ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, and at home that's plenty. - **The whole hall done up, for a big first birthday:** About ₹75,000 to ₹2 lakh. AI estimate. An entrance, a big stage, a photo booth, flowers on every table and sometimes the ceiling. Real flowers in place of artificial ones take it higher. **Ask for the list, whoever you book.** A theme name on its own tells you nothing about what comes with it, so get the backdrop size, balloon count, cutouts, stands, lights and letters. **What families asked us to spend on a birthday decoration**

Median budget ₹5,000. 124 requests from April to September 2026 in which the family named its own budget for a birthday decoration. If a family gave a range, we used its middle. If a budget was exactly where one bar ends and the next begins, we put it in the lower bar.

**Doing it yourself works for a simple corner.** Sixty balloons, a foil number and a hand pump cost under ₹500 at party shops online, plus delivery. You give up an evening, and there's no backdrop and no name.

**Buying the balloons yourself saves very little.** The balloons are the cheap part, and you pay a decorator for the time and the trip. Maruthi Events charges ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 just to put up balloons you've bought. With his own balloons, he starts at ₹1,500.

**For a themed setup, doing it yourself saves little.** A decorator already owns the frame, grass, lights and neon, so each job costs them far less than buying it all once costs you.

**Doing an 8x8 ft themed setup yourself saves little and takes three helpers 3 to 4 hours**

**For a big party, you can book everything in one go.** Then the decoration is one line on a bigger bill.

- **A planner.** Party Creatives' most asked-for package is for 50 to 60 guests, at ₹1.25 lakh to ₹1.35 lakh plus 18% GST. It covers food, decor, one or two activities, photos, seating and transport. Cake, more activities, an emcee and music cost extra. We'd put the decor at about ₹45,000 of it. If a planner quotes one number, ask what share is decor.
- **A play venue.** Timezone's mall arcades charged ₹999 to ₹2,000 a child for a party when we looked on 1 October 2026, for at least 10 guests, with a host and a party space. Food is extra, except at selected venues that include meals.

## Q2. Which themes can we pick, and what does each cost?

**Pick the theme your child loves. What you pay depends on the size of the setup, whatever the theme.** A jungle can be a print and a few animal cutouts against one wall, or a hall stage with animals as tall as the kids. The themes families ask us for most are a grown-up's birthday, pastel and boho, jungle, princess and cartoon characters.

**The name in lit letters is usually extra on a ring or a backdrop.** If you want it, ask what it adds.

**A new character takes longer.** If nobody here has printed it before, the artwork has to be made first. One family told us no decorator had the K-pop demon hunters in stock, so that set has to be made to order. Ask how long the print takes.

## Q3. Why does one decorator start at ₹8,500 and another at ₹22,000?

**Jay Bhawani Decoration keeps it simple and neat: a printed backdrop, a balloon garland and a few small cutouts, close to the photo you show them. Party Choice builds a whole stage: layered panels, a heavy balloon arch, cutouts as tall as the kids, the name in lit letters, a grass carpet and lights.** That fuller look takes more pieces and more hours, and that's where the extra money goes. At home or in a clubhouse corner, the simple one is plenty. If the party is in a hall and you want it to feel like an event, pay for the stage.

**The look is where the money goes.** A fuller set needs more of everything: a grass carpet, taller cutouts, more balloons, lights and a welcome board at the door. Bought at a shop, those come to a good part of the difference. The rest pays for the lit letters, the props and the hours it takes to tie about 700 balloons into layered arches, which is the part you pay a good decorator for.

The five lit letters, plinth wraps and theme props aren't counted, because we found no hire price from a shop or firm we can name. Sizes and splits are our assumptions; the list is in Sources.

**Party Choice does two smaller setups too.** Its hall setup and full stage overlap in price, and it quotes item by item, so ask which one a quote is for:

## Q4. Can I bring my own decorator into my clubhouse, hall or restaurant?

**Ask the venue before you pay the decorator, and get the answer in writing.** Can an outside decorator come in, is there a fee, what hours do you get the room, and can anything touch the walls?

What to ask depends on the venue. Pick yours:

**Where is the party?**

- **At home** (A flat or a villa): Nobody to ask except your landlord and the gate. Painter's tape comes off clean, but if you rent, say nothing goes on the walls and the decorator brings a stand. Give security the decorator's name, how many are coming and the time.
- **Clubhouse** (Or a society hall): Ask the association four things: may an outside decorator come in, from what time, out by when, and can anything touch the walls. Some clubhouses allow no tape, stickers or fixings. Then the backdrop stands on its own frame and the balloons need weighted bases, so tell the decorator before they quote.
- **Party hall** (Or a banquet hall): Ask whether the hall has its own decorator, and whether an outside one pays an entry fee. We found no hall that publishes that fee, so get it as a number. Ask when you get the hall, and where the plug points are near the stage.
- **Restaurant** (A cafe or a hotel): Many have a decorator of their own, allow only a corner, or hand over the room an hour before. Ask all three. If you get an hour, book something built beforehand and placed on arrival.
- **Outdoors** (A terrace or a garden): Ask for power and a covered fallback. On an open terrace the wind takes balloons, so they go on a weighted frame. The rain answer below has more.

## Q5. Will my setup look like the photos on the decorator's Instagram?

**Only if the photo shows a setup they did at your budget, in a room like yours. Ask them for that photo.**

**Ask for one with guests in it, too.** An empty, well-lit set always looks bigger than your room will with people standing in front of it. A phone photo or a short video from a real party shows you the size.

- **Your reference photo comes back in their version.** A decorator rebuilds it with what they own, so some parts will look different. Party Choice, for example, might use a sunboard bow where your photo has a fabric one, or its own balloon colours. Ask what will change before you pay.
- **Some photos aren't their work.** Decorators send photos of setups they're offering to recreate. Ask plainly: did you build this one? Then ask for a picture of the last setup they did at your budget. Ask us and we'll ask them for it.
- **Some promise a close match.** Dream Decor says it matches a Pinterest photo 90 to 95% for its artificial-flower setups, and has you pick a colour palette off two moodboards before anything is printed.

## Q6. What happens to my advance if I cancel, or the decorator doesn't come?

**If you cancel, you will probably lose your advance.** Decorators take it to hold your date and buy your materials. So pay the smallest advance they'll take, and get the cancellation rule in writing before you pay it.

Here's what each decorator takes up front, and what you lose if you cancel or move the date. Where one hasn't said, ask us and we'll find out.

Each decorator's own terms, given to us between 2025 and September 2026. A percentage is a share of your total.

**If they come late.** Put a ready-by time in the booking, an hour before your first guest. Ask who is coming to set up, and whether it's the person you spoke to. At Dream Decor, one of the two people who run it is at each event.

**If the decorator lets you down.** None of the decorators here has told us what they'd do if they're the ones who can't come. Still, an advance marked non-refundable doesn't mean they can keep your money. Under section 74 of the Indian Contract Act, a business can keep only reasonable compensation when a deal breaks, whatever the contract calls the advance. Consumer commissions do order the money back when the business is the one that stops. In July 2026 the Hyderabad commission ordered an events firm that stopped halfway through a job to refund ₹5.60 lakh, plus ₹1 lakh in compensation. One ruling is no promise for your case, so keep the WhatsApp thread and the receipt. And if something isn't going to plan with a decorator you booked through us, a person here sorts it out.

**Pay the rest after you've looked, where you can.** TK Balloon Shades, Party Choice and Party Creatives take the balance once the work is done. Ask the others when it's due. Before you pay, check what's up against your written list. A wrong colour or a misspelt name can often be fixed in the hour before guests, so ask for the fix first and talk money after. If it's far off and they won't fix it, write down what was agreed and what arrived. A consumer commission hears exactly that kind of complaint.

## Q7. How far ahead should I book, and how long do they need to set up?

**Ask as soon as the venue is fixed. A balloon corner can be done in a day or two, and anything printed with the name needs two days to a week. Setup itself takes two to three hours in the room.**

**For a Saturday in November or December, ask earlier still.** Party Choice told us it books up early in wedding season. Here's how much notice each decorator needs:

Each notice is what that decorator told us.

**Need it today or tomorrow?** About 1 in 10 of the party requests we send to decorators are for the same day or the next. At that notice, expect a basic balloon setup and nothing printed with the name.

**Near a festival, ask about flowers.** In the week around a festival, Mahinava Events charges extra for fresh flowers and nothing else. Her balloon and theme work costs the same. Dream Decor builds flower price rises into its first quote and adds nothing later. Ask the others.

**How long do you get in the room?**

- **About an hour** (Before the first guest): If the decorator has to blow up and fix a garland at your venue, they won't be done in an hour. Ask for a ring or panels that arrive built, a garland made the day before, and balloons that go up last.
- **2 to 3 hours** (A standard setup): Enough for a backdrop, a garland, plinths and a cake table. Mahinava Events plans on two to three hours for that, and flowers take longer. Agree it's done an hour before your first guest.
- **4 hours or more** (A big themed stage): Enough for a big build. Dream Decor needs the venue at least four hours before the party. Party Choice's shimmer package takes a senior decorator and four assistants four to five hours. Party Creatives starts a full build at midnight the night before.

## Q8. Terrace or garden party: what if it rains or gets windy?

**From June to October, agree a covered Plan B with the decorator before the day.** Most of the rain falls in the evening and night, when parties happen.

**The rain.** September and October are Bengaluru's wettest months, and January hardly gets any. Rain also slows the decorator's team on the roads, so a ready-by time an hour before your first guest matters even more. Dream Decor wrote about a day when heavy rain blocked the roads:

**Who pays if it rains.** Settle it before the day. The Wrapped Hearts checks the forecast, advises you and prices a Plan B if you ask. If you say no to the Plan B and it rains, that's not hers to cover. With the others, ask for the covered version as its own price.

**The wind.** On an open terrace, the backdrop and balloons need a frame weighted to the floor, and that costs more than taping them to a wall. One customer in Bengaluru planned her partner's 29th birthday on the terrace of her PG, then moved it into her own room, because the weighted frame cost more than she wanted to spend.

**The power.** Terraces often have no plug point. Ask the decorator to bring an extension or battery lights, and keep the cable away from where people walk.

## Q9. Are balloons, candles and helium safe around toddlers and pets?

**Balloons are the main danger for toddlers. A scrap of burst latex can block their airway.**

- **A burst balloon is the choking risk.** The American Academy of Pediatrics lists balloons among the things children choke on, and the US product safety agency says it's a broken or uninflated balloon to worry about. A dog that eats the pieces has the same problem.
- **Balloons on the floor.** Keep floor clusters away from where the under-threes play, and give one adult the job of picking up burst pieces. Fewer loose balloons also means fewer bangs, and the bangs are what make a one-year-old cry.
- **Candles and petals.** An open flame next to latex, sheer drapes and paper cutouts is the combination to avoid. LED candles give the same glow. Rose petals can stain a white sheet, so put a cloth down first.
- **Helium.** The cylinder is the decorator's to handle, outside and away from anything lit. You don't need helium for the floating look: Maruthi Events works only with air-filled balloons, tied to the ceiling with ribbons hanging down.
- **Sparklers, cold sparks and fog.** A sparkler counts as a firework under India's explosives rules. Some decorators offer indoor cold-spark and fog machines; Mahinava Events adds them to the decor quote, priced per job. There's no Indian ruling we know of on cold-spark machines, so ask your venue first, and tell them before any fog goes near a smoke alarm.

**Want no balloons at all?** Ask. Dream Decor posted a dinosaur setup with none, because its client wanted no plastic:

## More questions

### Can the decorator set it up while I'm at the office?

Yes. Give security the decorator's name, how many are coming, the time, and whose flat it is. For a surprise, ask the gate not to say anything to the person arriving. TK Balloon Shades sets up late at night or before dawn at no extra charge.

### After the party, what do I keep, and who takes it down?

The decorator's team takes it down, usually the same night, and takes almost everything back. Dream Decor's decor is rented, not sold. If a piece is damaged or lost, Party Choice and Party Creatives bill you the full cost to repair or replace it. You mostly keep the balloons, so ask before the day about anything printed with the name. Put the takedown time in the booking to match your venue's out-by time.

### Is ₹5,000 enough for a surprise setup that doesn't look cheap?

For one wall, yes. That buys a full balloon ring with a neon sign, or a simple printed backdrop with the name. TK Balloon Shades' rings, for one, are ₹3,500 to ₹6,700. Keep it to one corner, packed dense, rather than a few balloons spread over every wall.

### Do decorators charge extra to come to my area?

Usually, once you're outside the area they work in, so ask for travel as a number. Many small decorators keep to a few kilometres from home, which is why one near you often costs less. TK Balloon Shades includes travel within about 15 km of Rayasandra. Jay Bhawani Decoration includes it within 10 km of Jayanagar and goes no farther. Dream Decor adds about ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 in the city and ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 for the outskirts.

### What suits a parent's 60th, with no cartoon balloons?

A shimmer or dark backdrop, metallic balloons in two colours, the number in lit letters, and a few flowers. Jay Bhawani Decoration does a sequin wall with the age in lit numbers for ₹6,000 to ₹10,000, within 10 km of Jayanagar.

### Do helium balloons on the ceiling stay up till the evening?

Not reliably. We found no firm figure for how long a helium balloon stays up, so ask the decorator when they fill them and how many hours theirs last. Or go air-filled and tied to the ceiling, which needs no helium.

### Will the price come down if I pay cash with no bill?

Often not. Many small decorators don't add GST to their price at all, so there is no GST to take off. A service business under ₹20 lakh a year doesn't have to register. Mahinava Events and Dream Decor don't invoice GST by default. Party Choice adds about 18% only if you ask for a GST invoice, and Party Creatives puts 18% on every invoice. Paying with no receipt leaves you nothing to show if it goes wrong.

### Can one decorator also do the cake, return gifts and games?

Many can. Maruthi Events does return-gift hampers at ₹250 to ₹450 each. The Wrapped Hearts runs live craft stations from ₹200 for each guest, for at least 50 guests. That makes ₹10,000 the least you'd pay for the craft stations, by our sum. Ask for each as its own line, so you can drop one.

## Where the numbers come from

**Where the numbers come from**

- **Requests:** 526 Bengaluru party requests to mytribe, April to September 2026, 462 of them birthdays. These are the requests that reached the point where we sent decorators, so there were more requests than these, and they include catering, entertainment and gift requests. The counts of same-day requests and of people who had bought their own balloons come from reading each customer's own messages one by one; magicians, helium-only orders and private screenings aren't counted as setups. Each request card is a family's own messages to mytribe, put in our words.
- **Budgets:** the chart counts 124 birthday requests in which the family typed a budget for the decoration in their own WhatsApp messages, one request per family. We read every message with a rupee figure. We left out a budget in a ready-made first message (nine families sent the same wording with a range from a short menu), a range our assistant had just shown and the family tapped or repeated, a figure for food, a magician, photos, a venue or the whole party, and a budget in a request that wasn't a birthday. If a family gave a range, we used its middle (4k to 7k is ₹5,500). If it gave a ceiling such as "under ₹5,000", we used the ceiling. The median is ₹5,000.
- **Decorators:** apart from the five theme prices in the next line, every price against a decorator's name is one that decorator gave mytribe or put on their own price list with us: Dream Decor's in 2025, Mahinava Events' on 1 June 2026, the rest between April and September 2026. Two had a recorded call with us: Mahinava Events and The Wrapped Hearts.
- **Theme prices we worked out:** where a theme photo shows more than the decorator's own price covers, the card's price is that price plus our estimate for the rest of what the photo shows (four cards: Jay Bhawani Decoration's jungle and six-cutout Cocomelon setups, Party Choice's superhero and anime setups). Where we hold no price of theirs for a setup that size, the card says AI estimate (Party Choice's carnival). Party Choice's Peppa Pig card is his smallest job, ₹10,000; his own quotes for a setup like it come under that. Both were worked out on 5 October 2026 the way mytribe prices photos for its moodboards: from what comparable setups sell for, checked against that decorator's own prices and quotes for similar work, and rounded to ₹500. The decorator's own quote can differ.
- **What each step costs across Bengaluru:** the price ladder in Q1 covers the city's whole trade, the decorators named here among them, and each range is rounded. A stage in a party hall runs from the lowest to the highest hall price those decorators gave us. The first three steps also take in a decorator who publishes no price, worked out piece by piece from the shop prices below (balloons, a foil number, a printed flex), a banner, two or three people for two to three hours, and the trip. The whole hall is an AI estimate from its parts: a 20 to 24 ft stage (₹40,000 to ₹80,000), an entrance (₹8,000 to ₹25,000), a photo booth (₹8,000 to ₹15,000), 15 to 25 table centrepieces (₹6,000 to ₹25,000), work on the ceiling (₹10,000 to ₹40,000), and a cake table and props (₹5,000 to ₹15,000), checked against the stages and backdrops on this page. All worked out on 5 October 2026.
- **Prices outside mytribe:** each business's own website, read on 1 October 2026: Bakeyy in Bengaluru and Party Supplies India in Chennai for the do-it-yourself line, and Timezone for its parties.
- **Our estimates:** the parts of a hall setup, and what Party Choice adds, at prices read on 30 September and 1 October 2026: Union Creation and Peak Images for sunboard; Supreme Signs and Printigly for flex, and Kapricorn Prints and Printigly for vinyl; Moosa and Company and Nandi Tarapaulin for grass; Bakeyy, Party Wholesale Hub (Gurgaon) and Party Supplies India (Chennai) for balloons and the arch kit; TechnoRent for the lights; Rent For Event for the frame; Karnataka's minimum wage for Greater Bengaluru, May 2026, for the helpers. Every line of both bills is rounded to the nearest ₹100, and each total is the sum of the rounded lines. The packages don't give these sizes and splits, so they are our assumptions. In the first bill, the grass is 40 sq ft, the 3 to 5 cutouts are 2 to 3 ft tall and about 1.25 ft wide, there are 2 spotlights hired for 12 hours at ₹190 to ₹299 each, one arch kit, and 3 helpers for 3 to 4 hours. In the second, Jay Bhawani Decoration's setup has no carpet, 400 to 450 balloons, half of them double-stuffed, on 2 arch kits, 3 to 5 cutouts 1 to 3 ft tall and about 1.25 ft wide, no lights, and 3 people for 2 to 3 hours. Party Choice's has a 10x10 ft carpet, 600 to 800 balloons, half double-stuffed, 10 foil balloons and 2 arch kits, 4 to 6 cutouts 3 to 4 ft tall and about 1.5 ft wide, 2 to 3 focus lights at the same hire rate, and 3 to 4 people for 4 to 5 hours. Cutouts are printed on sunboard at ₹45 to ₹138 a sq ft. A 32-inch foil balloon is ₹34 at Party Wholesale Hub, a wholesaler in Gurgaon. An 18-inch one is ₹99 at Party Supplies India in Chennai. We also assumed the welcome board is 2x3 ft; Jay Bhawani Decoration's backdrop is flex (one of its own options) and Party Choice's vinyl or fabric; the frame is the hire firm's lowest rate; print prices are before GST; helpers are paid the minimum wage. We found no shop price for an arch strip on its own that we could read, so both bills use the ₹499 do-it-yourself arch kit, which also holds a hand pump, glue dots and tape. The lowest balloon price is a 1,000-pack with no size stated, and the lowest flex price is one undated listing. Plinths, a neon sign and the van are left out of the first bill, and the five lit letters, plinth wraps and theme props out of the second, because we found no hire price from a shop or firm we can name.

- What a hall or resort charges an outside decorator to come in. It's the first number to get from your venue.
- A published price from a local balloon decorator. They quote by phone, so the ladder's first step leans on our estimate.
- A published price for a whole hall done up for a first birthday. The ladder's top step is our AI estimate.
- How many clubhouses and halls let nothing touch the walls. A few families told us theirs did, in their own messages, and we found no association that publishes its rules.
- How much prices rise in wedding season, Diwali or December, beyond what Mahinava Events and Dream Decor told us about flowers.
- What a plinth costs to hire, so our estimates leave plinths out.
- What a hire firm charges for lit letters, a neon sign or a van for a day, so our bills leave them out.
- How long a helium balloon stays up.
- Whether cold-spark machines are legal indoors.
