Q1

What does Diwali decoration at home cost in Bengaluru?

Diwali decoration at home here runs from about ₹1,500 for a flower seller to do marigold at your door to ₹1.5 lakh or more when a decorator does a big house inside and out. The price depends on how much of the house gets flowers, and whether they're fresh. In a flat, a small local decorator does the door and the pooja corner for about ₹5,000 to ₹9,000, by our estimate. The event decorators named here start at about ₹10,000 for their smallest job, and take on more of the house. Flower prices can go up in Diwali week, so ask for the price on your date.

  1. About ₹1,500 to ₹3,500

    Marigold at your main door

AI estimate. A flower seller or a small local decorator ties fresh marigold and mango leaves across the top and down both sides of one door

  2. About ₹5,000 to ₹9,000

The door and the pooja corner, by a small local decorator

AI estimate. Marigold at the main door and fresh strings round the pooja unit, with a brass lamp

  3. About ₹10,000 to ₹20,000

The doors, torans and pooja corner, by an event decorator

Marigold at the main door, torans on two or three inside doorways, flowers and a simple drape round the pooja unit, brass lamps, sometimes a welcome board. This is the range across the city's event decorators. The ones named here start at about ₹10,000 outside Diwali week, so ask each for a price on your date

  4. About ₹10,000 to ₹25,000

A flower backdrop behind the idol

The wall behind the goddess filled with garlands, or flowers over a drape, with lamps in front, without the doors. Artificial flowers cost less than fresh

  5. About ₹20,000 to ₹50,000

    A designed pooja corner

A printed temple or Pichwai scene behind the idol, framed in flowers, with brass lamps on petals and plants around it, all in colours picked to go together. Transport and dressing the idol can be extra

  6. About ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh

The whole house, inside and out

AI estimate. For a big house or a villa: the gate and the main door in marigold, roses and banana stems, torans on every doorway, a big flower backdrop for the pooja, a petal rangoli, a lit drape or a photo corner, and lights on the front of the house, with transport and clearing up

Q2

When should I book a Diwali decorator, and is it too late?

Book now, and book the hour as well as the day. Every home wants its flowers up on the same Saturday night or Sunday morning, and each decorator here can do only one to three homes a day. They need a day or two's notice, and the longest asks at least a week. Lakshmi Pooja is on Sunday 8 November, 6:17 pm to 8:20 pm in Bengaluru.

Q3

Why is one Diwali flower setup ₹10,000 and another ₹20,000?

It can be the same backdrop, once in artificial flowers and once in fresh. Dream Party Link, for one, starts a festival backdrop at ₹10,000 in artificial flowers and ₹20,000 in fresh. Fresh flowers are bought for your day and thrown away after. Artificial ones are the decorator's own stock, used again.

Q4

Why can one Diwali lights quote cost three times another?

It can be just the number of nights. Lucky Light House's FAQ says it charges the first day in full, then half of that for each day after, so five nights cost three times one night. It prints no price for a house, only a minimum budget of ₹5,000 for any job. If ₹5,000 were the first day's bill, the five nights from Dhanteras to Balipadyami would come to ₹15,000 by our sum, before transport. A real quote for your house could be above or below it.

Q5

Can one person do the lights, torans, rangoli and pooja corner?

One floral decorator can do the door, the torans, the pooja corner and a petal rangoli. The lights outside are usually a second call, to a lighting firm or to you.

Q6

What's in a decorator's quote, and what gets added on the day?

Transport, clearing up and decorating the idol are the extras the decorators here name. Ask for one total that names each of them, says fresh or artificial, and says who takes it all down.

Q7

How much advance do Diwali decorators take, and what if they don't come?

Most ask for 30% to 50% up front, and some keep all of it if you cancel. There's one evening that matters, so write the arrival time into the booking and confirm the day before.

Q8

How do I decorate my flat for Diwali myself for ₹3,000?

About ₹2,400 at shop prices does the balcony, the door and the pooja corner. That leaves about ₹600 of the ₹3,000 for delivery, or for marigold if it costs more in Diwali week. Order the lights by the end of October so they're home by Dhanteras.

Q9

Are cheap LED lights safe on a balcony, and do they push up the bill?

The bill barely moves. The plug is the risk. 40 m of LED string for ten nights is under ₹10 of electricity, by our estimate. Keep the plug under cover, and don't plug one extension board into another.

Before you pay, settle these six

  1. The price of each job on its own line: door, torans, pooja corner, rangoli, lights
  2. Fresh or artificial flowers, and the price of each
  3. The day, the ready-by time, and who is coming
  4. Whether transport, the ladder, clearing up and GST are in the price
  5. For lights: how many nights, rented or yours, and the date they come down
  6. The advance, and what happens if you cancel or move the day

What Bengaluru customers asked us for

What customers wrote to us or told us, in their words, trimmed.

  • I'm looking for home decor for Diwali with flowers, a mix of fresh and artificial, for the living room and the entrance. Not the full house. I can get my own flowers and lights, so I only need help with the arranging, and I want it up till the 9th. 2 to 3k is my budget.

  • It's a Diwali house party, twenty people, at our residence on 1 November, from about seven for four hours. We want a few games, like card games or singing games, and some decor, mainly the living room and the entrance, and a little of the path that connects to the rooms. Mostly adults, 45 and over.

Want us to find one?

Doing this yourself takes a week. You message ten decorators, many don't reply to a number they don't know, the ones who do send packages that don't line up, and Instagram only shows each one's best day.

Tell us once instead. We come back with the decorators who fit, each priced for your Diwali decoration, with their own past work. We already know them: we've checked their real work and their prices, and called their past clients, including about what went wrong. Only about 1 in 10 who apply get in, and every one is re-checked at least every six months. How we verify

Every booking comes with an agreement on what's included and what it costs. It's free for you. The decorator pays mytribe a small fee when you book, and you pay them directly, at the same price as going to them yourself. If something isn't going to plan, a person here sorts it out.

The same chat answers questions about the Diwali decoration itself, like whether a quote is fair. This guide is about Bengaluru; for another city, ask on the same number.
