On-Site Tree Relocation (Crane-Assisted)
Execution Process
- Canopy Reduction: Manual or chainsaw pruning (30-40% of branches) to reduce stress on the tree during the move.
- Root Ball Prep: Excavating a 3-4ft diameter trench and wrapping the root ball in hessian cloth and jute rope (sutli).
- Chemical Treatment: Application of IBA rooting hormones and anti-fungal powders to minimize transplant shock.
- Lifting & Shifting: Moving the tree to a new pit within 100 meters using an ACE/Hydra crane.
Machinery & Crew
- Equipment: Includes fuel and operator charges for a 12T-14T Mobile Crane and JCB Backhoe (where access allows).
- Manpower: 6-person team including 1 supervisor and 5 diggers/riggers.
- Duration: Approximately 1.5 to 2 days per tree.
Planting Material
- Soil Mix: Backfilling with existing soil mixed with 0.5 brass red soil and vermicompost.
Exclusions
- Civil Works: Does not include repair of walls, pavers, or fences dismantled for crane access.
- Debris: Carting away large pruning waste off-site is not included.
- Permissions: BMC/TMC Tree Authority permissions must be handled by the client.
Off-Site Tree Translocation (With Transport)
Logistics & Transport
- Vehicle: Includes open flatbed truck or dumper hire suitable for the tree length.
- Dual-Crane Ops: Covers crane mobilization and operation charges at both the pickup location and the drop-off location.
- Secure Transit: Horizontal loading with trunk cushioning and root ball moisture management during the drive.
Site & Soil Work
- Anchoring: Installation of bamboo supports or wooden logs at the new site to secure the tree against wind.
- New Pit Filling: Supply of fresh river soil and 50-100kg of cow dung manure for the new location.
- Tracking: Numbering/Tagging of trees (paint on trunk) for inventory if moving multiple units.
Client Responsibilities
- Transit Permits: Transit passes from the Forest Department or Tree Authority are mandatory and must be procured by the client.
- Access: Ensuring road width at both sites is sufficient for a flatbed truck and crane entry.
