About this collection

Whether it's our granite owls keeping watch in a bookshelf or a pair of temple elephants guarding your entrance, each creature is chiseled by hand, not machine. Because we use natural stone like Krishna Shila and grey granite, you will find slight variations in texture and finish in every piece, which is exactly how we believe handcrafted art should be.

When we carve creatures, we aren't just making decor; we are inviting a bit of our culture into your space. Take our 'Goobey' (owl) statues—these are born from natural river boulders. We don't try to make them perfect; we work with the rock's existing shape to bring out that quirky, wise expression. They fit perfectly as doorstops or tucked away in a garden nook.

Then there are the temple elephants. In our traditions, an elephant with its trunk raised is a sign of good fortune and a protector of the home. We carve these using sturdy black granite, ensuring they can stand outside in Bangalore's weather without losing their detail. You will notice the jewelry and floral motifs are inspired by temple carvings, rendered with the patience of our local shilpakala artisans.

Beyond these, you will spot mythical figures like the Yali. These are deeply symbolic creatures from Vijayanagara and Hoysala architecture, meant to ward off negativity. Each piece is heavy, grounded, and tells a story of the person who spent hours carving it. If you are visiting our Anjanapura store, you will likely see these pieces resting alongside our living plant arrangements. We encourage you to come by, feel the stone's texture, and see which creature speaks to you. If you are looking for something specific, we are happy to share more details about the stone density or the best way to place these in your garden or foyer.
