Building the Warrior Engine: Strength & Power
Hyrox isn't just cardio. To survive the 8km and the stations, you need a hybrid engine. I build that raw power through heavy, functional training that translates to real race results.
We take the training outside when needed. Barbell squats are non-negotiable for building the leg strength required for the 8km of running and the heavy functional stations. There are no shortcuts to a powerful lower body.
The deadlift is a fundamental test of strength. In my akhada, we focus on building the posterior chain strength that is critical for everything from the sled push to the sandbag lunges.
The sled pull is a true test of grit. It combines pulling strength, grip, and pure determination. I teach the technique to keep moving efficiently even when your muscles are burning.
Functional strength is built with variety. We use tire slams for explosive power, pull-ups for building a strong back and grip, and kettlebell carries to forge a solid core and unbreakable conditioning.
About Building the Warrior Engine: Strength & Power
In my Yamuna Vihar akhada, we do not waste time on isolation machines for aesthetics. Strength here is measured by the load on the 150kg sled and the quality of your deadlift form. We prioritize functional lifts—squats, heavy pulls, and explosive movements—that directly improve your time on the race course by building the posterior chain strength required for sandbag lunges and sled pushes.
Building the 'Warrior Engine' requires a specific approach to periodization. We aren't just lifting weights; we are simulating the physical demands of race day. My training sessions are built on a hybrid model that forces your body to recover under tension.
Why Strength Matters for Hyrox
Endurance without strength is a liability. When you are 4km into a race, your legs need the foundation to push the sled, not just the capacity to keep running. We use compound movements like the barbell back squat and deadlift to stress the central nervous system, preparing you to maintain power output even when your heart rate is redlining.
The Training Environment
This is not a commercial, climate-controlled facility. We train in a raw, industrial environment designed for heat adaptation and mental grit. We use competition-grade equipment, including Concept2 SkiErgs and heavy Prowler sleds, to ensure your technique under fatigue is identical to your technique on race day.
My Philosophy
I coach for results, not for comfort. Whether you are a beginner or looking to secure a podium finish, the process remains the same: we identify your weakest link—whether it is grip strength, posterior chain weakness, or poor bracing—and we train until it becomes your strength. If you are prepared to put in the hours, I am prepared to show you how to move weight efficiently.
