Our Process: Transforming Plastic Waste into Decor
Ever wonder how trash becomes treasure? Peek inside our workshop where we turn discarded plastic into unique, hand-finished pieces.
A look into the making of our recycled plastic coasters. Each piece is handmade, from cutting the recycled boards to hand-sanding the surfaces for a smooth finish. It's a labor of love, turning waste into a valuable, beautiful product.
Welcome to our workshop. This is where the magic happens, where our skilled team cuts, sands, and assembles each product by hand. Every piece that leaves our workshop carries a story of transformation and craftsmanship.
Even a broken cup doesn't have to go to waste. We believe in reusing and repurposing wherever possible, like turning this old ceramic cup into a new home for a small plant. It's about being conscious in every choice we make.
We know plastic waste is a problem, but we also know it can be part of the solution. By choosing products like our recycled plastic pots, you give waste a second life and make a small choice that creates a big difference.
About From Waste to Wonder: Our Process
Because every piece is handmade, the finish is never factory-perfect. You might notice slight variations in the terrazzo patterns or the surface texture, but that is the reality of giving waste a second life. When you pick up one of our coasters or planters, you are holding a tangible piece of our sustainability mission, not a mass-produced item.
We started Econscious because we wanted to stop talking about the plastic problem and start fixing it. Our process is a labor of love that turns landfill-bound plastic into functional home decor.
The Lifecycle of Our Products
- Collection: We gather post-consumer plastic like bottle caps and wrappers. It is the stuff that usually gets tossed, but we see it as raw material.
- Shredding: The plastic is broken down into small, colorful chips.
- Compression & Molding: These chips are melted and compressed into solid boards. This is where the magic happens. We don't use paints to get those marble or terrazzo effects—the patterns are created by the colors of the plastic itself.
- Hand-Finishing: This is the most labor-intensive part. We cut the boards into shapes and sand the surfaces and edges by hand. It takes time, but it ensures that every edge is smooth and safe to use.
Why It Matters
Every time you choose a recycled item, you help us divert waste from the ocean and landfills. We aren't just selling you a bookshelf or a pen stand; we are proving that impact bada banana hai (making a big impact) starts with the small, conscious choice to reuse.
No two pieces look exactly alike, and that is intentional. Whether you are looking for a gift or setting up your own space, you get something that has its own story, its own pattern, and a zero-waste soul.
Econscious
We’re Sonal and Vaibhav. Econscious started on a mountain trek where we saw more plastic than nature. Instead of just talking about it, we started building, turning trash into everyday essentials right here in our workshop.
