Handmade Eco-Resin Process: Behind the Scenes
Peek into my home studio in Bangalore to see how I hand-pour, sand, and seal every eco-resin piece from scratch.
Here's how a handmade order comes to life. This video shows me pouring two oval trays, one in a lavender marble and another in a new turquoise combination.
When I say handmade, I mean it's made from scratch just for you. This video shows me pouring a large custom order, with all the pieces in the same color combination.
Pouring is my favorite part. Here, I'm making a large arch tray with a custom pattern for a client who pushed me to try a new and challenging design.
I get asked a lot about the material I use. This video explains what eco-resin is: a non-toxic, water-based, and durable material that allows for so much creativity.
Why is varnishing essential? I take the extra time to seal every eco-resin product to make it water-resistant, protect it from UV damage, and ensure it lasts for years to come.
A glimpse of me working in my studio, pouring a new collection. It's amazing to see how many small business owners share the same dream of creating and innovating.
I tried something new here: a trinket tray with the full Halloween color palette. This video shows the pouring process, layering the different colors.
About this collection
You won’t find a factory line here—just me at my work table, measuring out Beyond Mix and experimenting with colors for your orders. I use eco-resin because it’s non-toxic and durable, but the real effort happens in the hand-sanding and sealing process. If you notice a tiny bubble or a slight color variation, that’s just the raw, honest nature of handmade work, ensuring no two pieces are ever identical.
From My Work Table to Your Home
When I say handmade, I mean it—every tray, jar, and planter starts as raw powder and pigment right here in my Bangalore studio. I work with Beyond Mix, a water-based, non-toxic eco-resin, because it gives me the freedom to play with techniques like marbling, terrazzo, and color blocking. It’s a bit pricier than standard cement or plastic, but the finish is premium and, most importantly, safer for your home.
The Reality of Handmade
Sharing my process on social media isn't just about showing off the final product. It's about being real with you. Whether I'm pouring a custom tray for a client or experimenting with a new Halloween palette, things don't always go perfectly on the first try. Sometimes a mold doesn't behave, or the colors need adjusting. That’s why you’ll often see me in a 'Part 1, Part 2' format—if a piece doesn't meet my standard, I redo it until it’s right. That’s the Hues of Memories promise.
Quality That Lasts
Every piece goes through a rigorous finish process. I sand the edges by hand to make them smooth and apply a double coat of sealant. This isn't just for looks; it makes the product water-resistant and protects it from UV damage. My goal is to ensure that when you receive a custom order, it’s not just a beautiful prop for your vanity, but a sturdy, practical piece you can use every day.
If you have a specific color theme or a logo you want to incorporate, let’s chat. I love a good design challenge and I'm always happy to customize patterns, whether you prefer moody pastels or bold neons.
Hues of Memories
I'm Swati, and I run Hues of Memories from my home studio. After leaving my corporate job in 2019, I started this journey to create something real, and now every piece I pour is a part of that story.
