I don't just hit play on a playlist. My sets are built for dancers, focusing on the specific phrasing and polyrhythms of tracks like La Maxima 79. When I am behind the console, I watch the floor to match the energy, switching from classic Salsa On1 to smooth On2 or Bachata depending on how the night is moving.
Why a Dancer-DJ Makes a Difference
Music choice determines whether the floor stays empty or explodes with energy. Because I am a social dancer first, I understand the timing, the beat, and the anticipation that keeps people moving. I have spent 14 years in the scene, from Mumbai’s top socials to festivals across India, learning that the secret is in the connection.
My Technical Setup
I bring professional-grade equipment, including a Numark controller and Serato DJ Pro, to every gig. Whether you are organizing a weekly social at a place like Khar Social or a private corporate event, I handle the sonic flow. All I need is a standard PA system and an Aux/XLR input from your side, and I will take care of the rest.
What I Play
- Salsa: A mix of old-school On1 and smooth On2 rhythms. Think Ray Barretto meets La Maxima 79.
- Bachata & Kizomba: I love to switch up the mood with sensual Bachata or deep, soulful Kizomba to keep the evening dynamic.
- Live Elements: For events that need that extra spark, I can integrate live hand percussion like maracas, claves, or guiro right over the tracks.
Whether you are hosting a beginner workshop or a professional-level social, my goal is the same: to create a space where everyone feels the music and wants to dance.
