About One-on-One DJ Lessons
We start with the fundamentals, specifically manual beat-matching. I do not use the 'Sync' button in my teaching, because true DJing is about understanding bar counts, phrasing, and the rhythm logic behind your music. This approach ensures you develop a real technical foundation, not just a shortcut.
Whether you are picking up a controller for the first time or looking to refine your transitions, my lessons are tailored to where you currently stand.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe DJing is an act of self-expression. My one-on-one sessions move away from standard classroom formats to focus on real-world skills. You will work directly with professional Pioneer equipment, such as CDJs and DDJ controllers, to get a feel for the gear used in festivals and clubs.
What We Cover
- Manual Beat-Matching: We will learn to align tracks by ear, mastering bar counts and 4/4 timing without relying on automated software features.
- Advanced Mixing: For those in the Foundation Course, we cover EQ isolation, harmonic mixing using the Camelot wheel, and creative FX usage like filters and echoes.
- Mashup Logic: I will show you how I approach my own signature mashups, blending different genres like Bollywood and House to create something distinct.
- Demo Recording: By the end of our sessions, you will record a polished 15-minute mix that you can keep as a reference or use for your portfolio.
Practical Details
I offer both an introductory 90-minute session and a comprehensive 5-session Foundation Course. While I am based in Agartala, my classroom is mobile. I host lessons at the venues where I perform, allowing you to learn in an environment that bridges the gap between practice and a live gig.
