Poetry Workshops: Experience Creative Discovery
Step into a space where poetry isn't taught—it's felt. Join my intimate workshops in Delhi and Bengaluru, where we move beyond the page and into the experience.
A moment of quiet reflection during a workshop. May poetry keep claiming the spaces it so well holds.
Our workshops often end with a potluck. Poetry jumped from the pedestal right into this beautiful shared meal, a true form of community care.
Food, conversation, and connection after a lyrical poetry workshop. Poetry is indeed a form of care to the world, and sharing a meal is part of that.
A participant shares, "I've always been intimidated by poetry... this was a space where I felt welcome." Creating this inclusive, safe space is my primary goal.
The same testimonial, emphasizing the power of creating a safe space for people to find a newfound access to poetry through sensory exercises and bonding.
A participant on a forest walk: "The prompts gave me a window to truly reflect on my life and my surroundings."
A student shares her experience: "I didn't know two hours will ground me in such a way that I shall gain the confidence to express myself freely without being judged."
A senior program officer reflects on the workshop as "a truly introspective experience that left me feeling inspired and creatively recharged."
A creative director shares, "The workshop healed me a little. I didn't know I needed it when I signed up for it."
A teacher's reflection: "After having a long writing block, expressing myself through words and creating poetry again felt wonderful."
About The Workshop Experience: Glimpses & Voices
Every workshop I host is a small, quiet rebellion against the idea that poetry belongs on a pedestal. We gather in cafes or walk through parks like Lodhi Gardens, sharing not just our drafts and writing prompts, but coffee, snacks, and the messy, beautiful process of untangling our thoughts.
A space for the unrefined
My philosophy is simple: poetry cannot be taught, but we can create the conditions where it appears. Whether we are in a quiet room or wandering through the paths of Sunder Nursery, the focus remains on personal reflection rather than strict literary technique.
How we spend our time
- Sensory Prompts: We do not stare at blank pages waiting for inspiration. We use music, visual art, and even the smell of coffee to bypass the analytical mind and get words flowing.
- The Collective: Groups are strictly kept to 7-15 people. This keeps the acoustic and emotional environment clear, allowing everyone to share their work without the anxiety of a large audience. We often end with food and conversation, which is part of the care we offer each other.
- No Prerequisites: Whether you write daily or haven't touched a pen in years, you belong here. The goal is to leave with at least one poem that is truly yours and a sense of having slowed down for a few hours.
Practical details
Sessions range from 2.5-hour walks to 2-day zine-making intensives. I manage all materials, from textured paper to stationery, so you only need to show up as you are. We operate at locations like Novotel, Alliance Francaise, and Kunzum, providing an air-conditioned, calm environment for our sessions.
Rachit Sharma
I’m Rachit. I founded Dillipoetry to pull verse off the stage and into our bones. My workshops are spaces where we drop the pressure to be a poet and instead, just pay attention to the world around us. It is less about the rules of literature and more about the humanness of our shared stories.
