Original Poetry and Creative Writing | Dillipoetry
Poetry is in our bones. Here is a selection of my work—verses born from the streets of Delhi, queer identity, and the quiet beauty of nature.
A poem is... a portal to pain, to pride, to power. A reflection on the nature of poetry itself.
'my bones'. An exploration of the body, grief, and transformation, with images of swelling seeds and bursting lilies.
'The first lesson in the art of tracing a human body...'. A poem about bareness, intimacy, and what poetry does to a mind.
'Wait'. A poem about the simple, profound acts of being cared for, listened to, and loved.
'are you scared?'. A poem that catalogues the physical and emotional landscape of fear.
'please come back, Delhi's spring is leaving...'. A poem about love, loss, and the fleeting beauty of a city's season.
'dusheri'. A poem about mangoes, memory, and mothers, connecting the taste of a fruit to generations of love.
'Jamia in June rains'. A poem capturing a specific moment in the city, blending observations of the sky with the intimacy of a smile.
'rubber toes'. A sensory poem capturing a moment on a train, filled with tactile and visual details.
'For Ali Sethi'. A poem written for the musician, trying to capture the quality of his voice and its effect.
About My Voice: A Selection of My Poems
These poems are not static pages meant to be stored away; they are the living drafts that ground my workshops. When I share these lines, I am inviting you to see the raw materials I use to help participants unlock their own stories. If you feel a connection to these words, consider this an invitation to step into a space where you can find your own voice, regardless of your experience.
Writing poetry is not about following rules or reciting lines on a stage. It is about creating the right conditions for your own words to surface. My approach to workshops is simple: we remove the pressure. Whether we are walking through the green expanse of Sunder Nursery or sitting with coffee in a quiet bookstore, my goal is to guide you past the blocks that stop us from writing.
Why join a session?
We skip the technical grammar drills. Instead, we use sensory prompts—the smell of rain, the taste of fruit, or the architecture of a city—to get words flowing. These sessions are built on the same foundations you see in my poems: vulnerability, observation, and a willingness to see the world differently. You will walk away with new drafts, but more importantly, you will leave with a recharged sense of creative permission.
Who is this for?
My sessions are open to everyone. You do not need to be an artist or a published writer to belong here. If you are looking for a space to process grief, celebrate joy, or simply find a quiet hour away from the noise of the city, there is a seat for you. I keep groups small, between 7 and 15 people, to ensure everyone has the space to be heard and to create in comfort.
We regularly host gatherings across Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. Whether you are interested in our weekend nature walks, immersive Zine-making intensives, or intimate poetry salons, every event is a chance to move closer to your own creative truth.
Rachit Sharma
I am Rachit, and I founded Dillipoetry to pull art off the stage and into the air we breathe. I facilitate spaces—whether in a forest grove or a quiet cafe—where we skip the rigid rules and focus on letting your own words emerge.
