The DSD Style: Dance Technique & Expression
From Ballet lines to Bollywood drama, this is my signature DSD style. It is all about technical foundations, sass, and finding your main character energy.
My training in contemporary and ballet gives me the flexibility and control that I incorporate into all my dance styles. This is the technical side of my art.
A classic ballet pose, the arabesque. This discipline is a core part of my dance identity and influences my choreography.
Flexibility is key for a dancer. This split on the steps of the Asiatic Library was from a shoot celebrating the power and grace of the human body.
Another variation of the split, showing the strength and control that comes from years of dedicated practice and training.
A dynamic pose from my contemporary dance photoshoot. This style is all about using the body to express raw emotion.
A graceful pose showing the lines and form that are fundamental to ballet and jazz. This training is the backbone of my DSD style.
A throwback to when I designed and stitched this gown myself for a photoshoot at Marine Drive. It’s all about creating your own Cannes moment.
About this collection
Every session in my studio starts with jazz and ballet-based warm-ups, so you build actual strength while learning the moves. I keep my South Bombay batches small because I want to see you shine, not just follow the crowd. It is about getting that form right so you feel like a star when the music hits.
My Dance Philosophy
When I say 'DSD Style,' I do not mean just another Bollywood step. My choreography is a mash-up of the grace I learned from Ballet and the raw, expressive technique of Jazz, layered with the high-energy vibe of Bollywood. I trained in NYC and Mumbai to understand how the body moves, and I bring that exact rigour to my classes. Whether we are working on a lyrical semiclassical piece or a fast-paced item number, the focus is always on fluidity and storytelling.
Why My Classes Are Different
I believe in small batches. In my South Bombay studio, you are not just a face in the back row. We work on your facial expressions, your posture, and your stage presence. The goal is for you to walk out feeling a little more confident than when you walked in. It is about creating a space where 'extra' is encouraged, not judged.
Making It Work
We keep it real. 'Jahan hai, wahi ka maza lete hai' is my mantra. Whether you are a total beginner or someone who has danced for years, we tailor the intensity so you get a workout and a performance. If you are prepping for a wedding sangeet or just need to blow off steam, you will find your tribe here.
What to Expect
- Technical Roots: Warm-ups grounded in Jazz and Contemporary basics.
- Performance Focus: Coaching on camera interaction and stage presence.
- The Vibe: A safe, feminine space where we hype each other up.
Come as you are, and let us make some magic on the dance floor.
